If it is a rear-tine tiller (tines behind the wheels), that's the way it is supposed to work.

From my searching the model tiller you have is #917.295352.
Go to www.searspartsdirect.com. You can put in the model number and it will show different areas for parts. The owner's manual is part # 152999 and the belt is # 9180R. The belt guard comes off you replace the belt and put the guard back on. If you need to take pictures or draw some diagrams to keep things straight.

If you go to Sears.com, then go to parts,then type in the model number, then look to the right and scroll down slow you will see a spot that says get manuals for this model and click on view manuals then any manuals they have you can print them out.

I don't have a manual and I need to know what size belt to purchase. Any help would be nice.
