I have a Sub Zero 650. The fan on top runs all the time. The temperature inside both Freezer and Fridge are fine and will respond to the changes I do to the settings. The fridge had been off for a move and...

Hi,

If either compressor is running the fan is always on to cool both compressors. As they cycle it is possible the both compressor cycle at the same time and the fan turns off. But it is rare to see this happen. So yes the fans for the compressor does run at the time. I hope this helps, good luck

How difficult is it to replace a subzero 650 compressor?

With E.P.A. laws, of you do not have the equipment, I would donate the unit for a great tax break. Any unit that is over 10 years old, always replace to a higher energy effiecient unit. It will pay for it self in a few years, just off the money you saved. If the unit is only a few years old, the new compressor will run $120-$175, plus a coupple hundred for labor.

650 sub zero that has a vacuum condenser message returns.

I have seen this many times and have fixed the problem many times. You may notice a ball of frost or ice build up in the fresh food compartment, This is because you have a leak in your evaporator coil and it needs to be replaced. It is a pretty costly repair but well worth it in consideration to what you paid for this unit or what the cost of a new one would be. Because it has less freon in it is why the compressor is running longer and causing message to pop up. Have the evaporator replaced in the section that is giving the issue and this will solve your problem with the unit.

Cycle off

As you probably know, the recommended temperature range is between 35-45 F so if you control will not allow you to set this, the sensor or associated regulator has failed.
