Serial presence detect (SPD) refers to a standardized way to automatically access information about a computer memory module. Earlier 72-pin SIMMs included 5 pins which provided 5 bits of parallel presence detect (PPD) data, but the 168-pin DIMM standard changed to a serial presence detect to encode much more information

I wanna know about the compatible ram for my intel d 485 gally mother board with 1.7 ghz processor

The D845GLLY board provide the following memory features:
  • Two DIMM sockets supporting 3.3 V (only) 168-pin 133 MHz Single Data Rate (SDR) SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
  • Unbuffered non-ECC DIMMs only
  • Maximum total system memory: 2 GB; minimum total system memory: 64 MB
  • Serial Presence Detect (SPD) DIMMs only
  • Suspend to RAM
CAUTION:
Do not use ECC DIMMs with the Desktop Board. Using ECC DIMMs could damage the Desktop Board.
Integrator's Notes:
  • Registered DIMMs are not supported on the Desktop Board.
  • This Desktop Board has been designed to support DIMMs based on 512 Mbit technology for a maximum onboard capacity of up to 2 GB, but this technology has not been validated on this board.

Note:
To be fully compliant with all applicable PCI33 SDRAM memory specifications, the board should be populated with DIMMs that support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. This allows the BIOS to read the SPD data and program the chipset to accurately configure memory settings for optimum performance.

I hope it helps!!!

Mother board driver problem...

You will need to open the computer case and look for the model number on the motherboard. Usually it will be in bigger font than other text. When you find it, you will need to search google for that model number and get the drivers from the manufacturer website and install them.

Probblen in Additinol RAM

Hi Raj_jp, the Intel D845GLLY board must have SPD memory to function correctly in the system. The memory you added (512MB) must not support SPD. To help you understand what SPD is, you can click on this link which explains what SPD is.
http://searchcio-midmarket.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid183_gci533524,00.html#

The memory sold in this next link will function in you're Intel motherboard. http://www.memory-up.com/Memory/IntelD12696.html
So will the memory in this next link.
http://www.memorystock.com/memory/IntelD845GLLY.html
If you bought the 256MB memory recently, you should be able to return it & have it exchanged. The link above also lists the part number for the memory.

Good Luck!
Remember you're Intel motherboard uses you're system memory to run the onboard video card. The total amount of memory the video card uses can be adjusted higher or lower. You can adjust this in the bios. Go to Advanced Menu. Page 40 in the Intel user manual. You can download you're manual at this link.

PROBLEM Compaq Solution Software For HSG80 8.5

I am not familiar with "Controller shelf", but if the power supply is bad and Windows isn't loading? You can find an adequate and reasonably priced power supply and replace it yourself. You'll need to find/order a power supply that is compatible with your Case and Mother Board.
Hope this helps, and Good Luck.

CD-ROM icon missing on screen

Hedge,

Can you see it in your device manager? if you can't then its a physical problem which means you will need to double check your physical connections between the cdrom and your motherboard as well as the power connections.
Another way to double check is go to your bios and see if the biois detects your cdrom. If it doesnt then i think you cdrom is dead.
