Relay click and 9 blinking led.

Hi Zjut, When I switch on the tv I can hear a relay click then the stand-by led blinks 9 times. I am getting voltage on the VS test point but not on the VE test point. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Hi Zjut, Thank you so much for getting back to me so soon.

I disconnect the x board, still no VE, I then disconnect the y board still no VE but when I disconnected both boards I got 100v at the VE test point.

Does this suggest that the problem might be in the power supply board?

    Thanks again for your help

Try the following steps:
1. Remove the power supply to X Main board, check VE. If you get normal VE then replace the X Main board. Otherwise to 2.
2. Remove the power supply to Y Main board, check VE. If you get VE then replace the Y Main board, otherwise to 3.
3. Replace the SMPS board & SMPS 200V board.

Good Luck

Sony tv model KV-HA21M80 is having problem front stand by L.E.D is blinking 4 times and stopping

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. By replacing the power supply only; the set will switch On. You have to adjust the Va & Vs voltages. These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). No picture no sound. Red led blinks once relay clicks once and repeats

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication. You can get an idea about the faulty stage circuit inside the TV, by the number of these blinks. Count it carefully, by switching it ON and OFF, more than 2 times at least, so that, you can make sure about the number of these blinks. If you wish to get more details, check the site linked here. My Sony Trintron's LED Light blinks 9 times when I try to turn on the set

  1. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing, then change the switching regulator on the "G" board or check connections. Make sure the regulator is -12 or -13 (negative). If you wish to get more details about the blinking codes to Sony brand TVs, check this link. Pull up older posts there.

Hi
A common problem for these is bad capacitors in the power supply, Remove the back from your Tv and look at the power supply on the left hand side.

You will see roughly around 9 x capacitors that are bulged / domed shaped on top usually these are valued at 3300uf 10V any that have bulged or leaked a brown like substance should be changed.
This will cure the problem as they overheat being sat next to a heatsink that gets very hot!
Try and change them for the same 3300uf but a higher voltage.
Hope this helps

Power LED blinks red

it is a bad fan. it also could be a power supply. Quite often the real problem is dirt clogging up the fan(s) to the point that they need to be replaced. Operation of the set in a dirty environment is not a good idea

Stand-by LED blinks-no picture or sound

the symptom is usually caused by a breakdown in the power supply circuit. in most modern receivers (transistorized and/or ic), it may also be caused by a breakdown in the horizontal deflection circuits (hor. oscillator, pre-drive, or drive circuits). supply voltages for the tuner, video if,sound if, and vertical output are usually supplied by the horizontal output circuit. but if you doesnt know anything about these stuffs, better bring it to a qualified service tecnhician
