The problem is my bathtub won't drain.

The problem ismy bathtub won't drain. I think it is fitted with a moen drain. There is a grate that I can remove. Then further down is a grate which I can't remove. when I try to push a stick or hard pastic straw down, it seems to hit something solid. What do you think the problem is?

On most applications, where the lever for the stopper is located, mounted just under the faucet, also serves as the overflow for the tub: unscrew that plate and then you can pull the stopper linkage out. maybe you have a bunch of gunk (hair, etc) blocking the drain. once you have the entire linkage out, boil about a gallon of hot water and pour it down the drain; immediately follow with HOT tap water; if it drains, GREAT, if it doesn't, just let the HOT water sit there for a few minutes; then get your hand plunger and go to work. be sure to block the overflow hole (where you took the plate off) with plastic so that when you are working the plunger, you get good suction.

My Moen 90480 tub drain is supposed to be adjustable from 12 - 22 inches. The threads on the adjustable end of the connector are only 3 - 4 inches long and do not allow for adjustment to 17". How...

The height you are talking about has nothing to do with the threads it is change at the slip joint part of the unit this is the expanded part of the drain tee that the tube going up to the over flow fits into.

Disconnect/reconnect drain part of MOEN (Adler) bathroom faucet CAL84502. I'm changing the entire basin and reinstalling the MOEN faucet system but can't find my original installation instructions.

Should be 3 wing pipe nuts. One at basin base, and one on each end of you elbow. They should all turn counter-clockwise to remove. The one on the basin base likely and commonly has pipe thread tape on it.
