I have a Cannon PRIXMA MP130. I lost the software

if the cartridge is new ( not refilled) the problem maybe is the carriage unit or the logic board, in both cases is better to replace the printer

First let's try and see if maybe there are multiple printer drivers saved on your computer and we can put you MP130 as the Default printer. Go to: Start - Control Panel - Printers and Faxes (Or Devices and Printers). This will give you a list of all of the printers installed on your computer. If you see one named Canon MP130, right click it and select Set As Default Printer. That will make it so that every time you print the computer will automatically choose the MP130.

If your MP130 IS NOT listed in the menu, then your best bet is to reinstall the driver. Go to:

This is the Canon support website where you can download the driver for free. Select your operating system from the dropdown menu and a list will appear underneath of all the downloads available. Click on the link under Drivers and install the driver once the download is complete.

NOTE: (if in the Printers and Faxes menu there is an icon for an MP140, but you don't have one, you might want to delete it (right click - delete) just in case)

You will need to select the right OS and then download the correct one for your OS. Connect the printer to the PC and then run the file that you downloaded. You will then need to download and install the MP Navigator software to control the scanner.

Service Error 5100
Cause : Movement of the Print Head Holder is blocked.
Action "Clear the paper jam or foreign object that is preventing the Print Hed Holder from moving, cancel printing from your computer, then turn off the machine and turn it back on again.

click go on the next screen select drivers/ software

Select your driver for your XP or VISTA (whichever you have) and download. If you are not advanced on installing you can select automatic driver install.
