you don't need to remove the whole console it is in sections, take a screwdriver and gently pry the front and side of the cup holder releasing the clips then pull strait up, you will see 2 phillips screws underneath remove those and pull up and back on the shifter cover, to remove the shift knob pry the lower part of the knob away from the from the top you will see 2 set screws underneath this cover then pull shifter strait up, don't forget to unplug the light for the gear selector from underside of the cover or the light assembly will break ( glued in place), the boot for the 2wd/4wd selector is held in place by 4 Phillips screws from the underside of the cover remove these and the boot stays on the selector and you can remove the cover
Bertha: most ashtrays are made to pull most of the way out, then take a flat blade screwdriver and push down on a flexible piece in the middle. If you can't figure it out and it is important, go to a wrecking yard and tear one out. It won't matter if you screw it up!
If you are attempting to remove the whole string spool, including the spool holder, you will most likely need to insert a pin (screwdriver, punch, large nail, etc.) in the slot between the spool holder and the power head of the trimmer. That will keep the drive mechanism from turning as you unscrew the spool holder.
Are you asking about how to loosen the knob on the tank or how to remove the tank from the grill's holder? If you're trying to turn the tank valve to ON, you turn the knob Counter Clockwise. If you trying to remove the On/Off knob itself, you remove the screw in the center of the knob. Most require a Star Head screw driver of bit to do this. Be sure the tank valve if completely OFF, before attempting this.
To remove the tank from the grill holder, simply lift the holder off the top rim of the tank. It may be snug, so it sill require some force.
It is held on underneath with 2 small 8mm head bolts. They probably rotted and broke off.. You will have to remove the 2 bolts and the big bolt on the side of the transfer case and remove the whole bracket if they are broke off. Only 1 might be broke because I believe the bottom hole on the shifter is slotted and the top one has the hole. Either way you will have to look at it from underneath. Hope this helps. Cobra..
Simple you either replace the knob assembly or use araldite and fix off the broken knob. It is only a temporary remedy and for a permanent solution please replace the knob assembly and get rid off this problem
Remove the brush roll, then there 3 screws to remove from the bottom. Then on each side there is a slot, use a flat blade and push on them, then the top rill come loose. That idler arm lock is # 4 in the picture and the knob holds it in place, unless it came off, you don't need to replace it. The handle release #6, there 2 tabs that fit into a holder on each side, stick your screw driver in there and try to twisp and pry it out from the holders, then pop in the new one.
