I have recently switched on my S5000 to find that the display has turned pink. When I take a picture the result is the same - pink. I can turn it into b/w but I want colour pictures. The picture mode will not change when I change my settings! (After reading some of the posts I now understand why the time & date goes off when the battery is changed!)
Does anyone know why the display screen is now a horrible pink colour! I await the bad news!!!
Thanks
Mike
4/8/08 FOR ALL CCD SENSOR'S MFG by Sony: Found the answer. Sony Repair service is fixing for free any CCD sensor problems on "any" camera that had a "Sony Manufactured CCD sensor". I have now called the service center and they sent me a UPS Return label so I can send my camera in for "free" repair. This is good news!!! I can't remember the site I was on but they listed all brands that had the Sony mfg. CCD sensors in them. So call the Sony Repair Center to find out if your camera has the Sony CCD sensor in it. This was an error in the manufacturing process and they are standing good for this.
Your ccd-sensor is faulty.

My finepix has a similar problem. It will display pictures already taken ok on the LCD, but when I put it into 'record' / photo mode it has a series of lines across the display and no subject pictures can be taken.
if it is the CCD that is faulty, how can I check if this is one of the sony's ones reported? I thought these were all 4th generation Fuji or did I read my google search results wrong?
