Starter My starter for my gas stove top will not stop making a spark. The clicking is driving me crazy. Everthing works fine. It will light and the burners work great it just won't stop sparking even in the off mode

Other than that the igniter is inside the oven towards bottom back.

Check to see if the electric ignitors are connected at the ignition module, located under the top surface panel. It is possible that the wire(s) that go to the oven ignitors has burned off or become disconnected from the main spark module,

It is also possible that the electrodes have failed and need to be replaced. These are the two (2) devices that produce the spark (and make the clicking sound) inside the oven compartment.

If those are OK, then check the thermostat, as it could be faulty and preventing the oven from functioning.

If you can smell gas when attempting to turn the oven (bake or broil) then the valves are good, if you don't smell any gas, the gas supply valves (one for each bake and broil tubes) need to be checked.

You might also try lighting the oven manually with a long match or grill lighter to rule out faulty gas supply valves or a faulty thermostat, which if you can manually light the oven, it would prove that the ignitors must have failed.

The spark ignitor has failed. Have it replaced and that should stop all the extra clicking. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Your gas valve could be out or your ignitor's out. I hope this helps you. BTW: I LOVE Maytag!

regardless of electrical supply to home you can always match light you stovetop incases of power failure, your bake and broil would be compromised by lack of electricity.

in repairing Kenmores there is a relay well 2 small black an square in the head unit of stove one for stove the other is for oven anyway they go out alot a setback to the kenmore digital controls take upper panel off where controls are look at the green board an you can see them some green some red or blue to tell if one is bad be careful an turn the stove on u will hear the relay click then try oven if you do not hear a click its bad do not i repeat do not touch it while its on

Just happened to me. I unplugged the electric starter, wiped up the water, took off burners, etc., and placed a fan over the stove. After about 3 hours, I plugged in starter and the clicking is no longer.
