What is a inverter on a presario v3000 moniter?

Plug in a monitor to the VGA connector on the side. The white screen usually indicates a failed inverter. By using an external monitor you will cut down the likely causes.

The LCD monitor has most likely a defective inverter.

The model "V3000" is a generic term for a bunch of different models. To make sure you get the right drivers for your specific model, start at HP's site here and pick yours from the list. Then pick the Windows XP operating system and you'll find the drivers they have for download.

Either the lcd inverter or the lcd itself is bad. If the machine is under warranty then call HP to get it serviced otherwise

254108-001 is the part number for the lcd

Probably the backlight for the LCD has went bad or the high voltage inverter that supplies the voltage to the backlight. You'll be going to a repair shop.

It miight be the backlight for this unit. It all depends on whether the screen came with the backlight. There is a remote chance that the display circuitry on the motherboard is faulty too. Try to plug a monitor into the VGA port and check to see if it is dim there too.

Have you tried hooking up an external moniter? If so do you have video on that moniter? If you do have video on the external moniter then you most likely have a bad inverter or a bad lcd panel.I would replace the inverter first because it's not very expensive.If that doesn't work then you can replace the lcd panelAnd if that doesn't work you have problems at the system board level.
