before doing any thing check signal level,if it is low this can cause picture to pixlate or freese to test use a dvd player as a signal source ,if it plays fine its low signal level to tuner good luck, butler
Same problem here. BP620 freezes up randomly. I have to unplag and wait. Then it freezes up again as the film progresses. I did a factory rollback and disabled wifi. Things are working much better. Very Strange ! I will call LG tomorrow and will return this BlueRay player if they don't have a fix on this problem.
I believe it's over heating. If you feel the bottom after an hour it'll be so hot you can't touch it. I put a laptop fan under mine and now it won't stop any more.
Reason it won't play blu-ray's now is because the laser is to weak. The laser requires a different strength to read the diffferent discs and if the laser is weak in any way then it will error out or freeze up. Either way you'll have to get a new player cause you cant get parts for it.
if this only happens to blu ray discs and not to normal DVDs then it might be a problem with the blu ray reader which is seperate to the DVD one it happened to me and had to take mine back and get it replaced =/
Check your dvd's for smudges, scratches, etc. Does it do this for all dvd's or just a few? Clean all of your dvd's with a soft cloth moving from the center out to the edge. You can get dvd cleaning kits relatively cheap at places like BestBuy. If that does not fix the problem, then it could be either the laser eye in the player is dirty or it is starting to fail. Another possible problem could be its software needs to be updated...you can contact Sony here: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=BDPS300
to download software updates for the player and you can contact Sony Service as well to further isolate the problem. I hope this helps, not much else I can do from online.
the laser is starting to go bad in the dvd drive. It takes more power for the drives laser to read and play a blu ray movie then it does to play a dvd game.
You can either replace the laser if you have the technical knowledge to take the dvd drive apart, or just replace the drive. You can usually find either one on ebay.
1st DO NOT EXPOSE THE BLU-RAY FOR ANY REASON - You run the risk of blindness and radiation exposure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please advise what FirmWare Version you are currently running on. You can find this under;
Settings>System Settings>System Information.
Once I have this info I will provide you with the best fix if needed but It is probably down to out of date drivers. There have been a number of changes to the blurays drivers recently and if these havent been updated then this will most likely be your problem. To solve this all you need to do is take your system online and download the newest FirmWare update. - There are people who NEVER use the system online for different reasons. Since you brought the system BluRay has gone through 4 upgrades. Any BluRays you buy now wll likely be incompatible for playback with the drivers you have on your system.
If you need any further advice on getting online with thew PS3 please post it as a new issue and I will help you - but the PS3 talks you through it to be honest
