Turn off the receivers just do the following on the remote:
1. av1 or av2

2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT, wait for two or three blinks, release

3. enter 9 9 3

4. press SELECT
This is for Direct TV

You should be able to find remote codes and instructions for programing them on the dish network or direct tv websites

My Yamaha RX-V563 cuts off after a few minutes with no cables attached. I feel like throwing it in the river.

You could - or you could try getting it fixed. Its good you disconnected all cables as a test. That eliminated all external causes. At this point, either the amp module or the protection circuit is bad; either probably require professional attention. Sorry - good drowning.

Yamaha reciever model rx-v563 power cord

It's just a power cable. Get something like this
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3875430
and lop off the end that doesn't fit, strip them and either splice it to the remnants or go inside and connect it to where the original goes.

Check the internal fuse inside the unit. If it goes again, after replacement, get back in touch with us. If OK check the transformer and the power switch.

What is the yamaha htr 6050 remote code?

You have to "learn" the IR. Yamaha has discrete on and off commands. which universal remote are you using?

Yamaha reciever doesnt recognise hdmi from Mac laptop

Max does recognize receiver over HDMI-CEC.
The problem is that DVI output is for video only. Macbook won't (and can't) output audio via DVI. So yamaha receives only video signal via the HDMI connector. You can check that by pressing Option button on yamaha remote and choosing Signal Info - you will see info about video, but no audio signal present.

Rx-v563 backround music much louder than people when watching tv

I would check your center speaker wiring and setting. Then switch to a different audio setting (pro logic, theater...)
