To enter into the convergence service of your sony, follow the steps below;

1. Press "Menu" on the remote control. Use the up- or down-arrow button to move the cursor to "Setup" and then press "Return."
2. Use the up or down arrow to move the cursor to "Convergence" and press "Return." This will bring up the convergence-adjustment screen.
3. Press the up or down arrow to move the cursor to the line you want to adjust (either vertical or horizontal for red and blue) and press "Return."
4. Press the up or down arrow again to move that line until it converges with the center green line and press "Return."
5. Repeat to adjust the other lines until all three lines converge and are seen as a white cross.
6. Press "Menu" to exit the convergence menu and return to the original screen.

You can as well follow these steps;

1. Press the "Power" button to turn your TV on.
2. Wait at least 30 minutes before you adjust the convergence in your television. This allows your TV ample time to warm up before you make the adjustment.
3. Turn your TV to a cable channel or to an antenna channel with a picture that you can see. A music channel with a static shot of music notes isn't the kind of picture you need. Instead, look for a picture like what you would see on a movie, sitcom or drama.
4. Press the "Flash Focus" button located in the front panel on your TV. You may need to open a hidden compartment on the front of your TV to access this button. The convergence will repair itself automatically after you hit this button. It may take several minutes.

Replace convergence out ICs to get it fixed.
You can replace these chips if you can replace parts in circuit board with proper tools or ask local tv tech.

You have a failure in your tv. This is a common failure with many big screen tv's. The convergence driver ic's have failed, they are located on the "D" board in your set. if you want to repair this yourself you need to be aware of the dangers of working inside a televison, even with the tv unplugged from the wall it will still cary voltages that are very dangerous.

There are two approches to the repair that the Technican may use, One approch is to replace the whole "D" board this is the more costly approch, the other approch to the repair is to replace the STK392 ic's and any blowen pic fuses. This repair from a service tech will cost around $300.00 to fix. If you want explisit instructions on how to repair this problem post back and i can get them for you.

Hey, found the problem. Your Convergence IC chip went bad. Buy one at Bluestar International Components (bluestar-online.com) - order part number STK392-010 for 6.99. I've read that there are two in the system and replacing them both at same time is a good idea...so, order 2. Now, if you are handy, it will require you to open the back of the TV and solder out the old chip and replace with new. If not, then you might as well call a TV repair person and have them fix. However, every place I've called works on a minimum fee for "large screen TVs" - the cheapest I could find in Atlanta was $399 minimum service fee. So, I'm going to risk the home sodering job .... it's a 10 year old TV and as good as it's been to me, if I screw it up, I feel I've gotten my money out of it. Good luck with your repair. Check convergence board for possible blown fuses.

Joe, did you have a tech confirm it`s the yoke? Not a common problem to have a yoke failure, maybe yoke return resistor(s) or possibly bad convergence IC`s, poor signal from DCU (digital convergence unit).

You may have a bad convergence... short will shutdown your HV circuitry leaving just audio?
It has no bulb to change?

try a system reset

turn tv off,
on the remote
display, 5, vol+, power
when set turns on press 8 then enter.

tv will turn off, then press tv on turn turn back on.  See if this helps
