Check your connections:

DSL-modem to telephone-jack (or cable-modem to cable-jack).

Ethernet cable from DSL-modem (or from cable-modem) to WAN port on your router.

Ethernet cable from LAN port on router to WAN port on your Airport.

Cut the power to the Airport, and then plug it back in, so that it restarts.

We just bought an Apple Airport Extreme router. After installing the Airport Utility software, and hooking up the router, we can not configure the base station using the Airport Utility. No matter what...

First time you should connect an Ethernet cable to the AirPort, and set it up with the software it came with. Then take a note of the wireless network's name (SSID) and the password (you might want to chance them to your personal preference though), security youre using (WEP, WPA, or WPA2)

Apple extreme router will not find the new ip addresses for the new motorola cable modem? when modem is connected directly to my mac everything wors fine?

Turn the cable-modem off.
Turn the router off.
Turn your computer off.
Turn the cable-modem on, and wait until its lights settle-down to the usual "pattern".
Turn the router on, and similarly wait.
Turn your computer on, and similarly wait.
You should now have Internet access.

I have a macbook and a pc with a cable modem and an airport extreme. I want to hook them both up so I can use the internet at the same time on the pc and the macbook. How do I do this or hook it up?

Not sure what you have tried yet, so I'll suggest the first thing to try ...
The cable modem will have an ethernet jack on it for "LAN" - you will need an ethernet cable ... plug the cable into this jack .. and the other end of the cable into the airport extreme .. and then power up the airport extreme .. if the airport extreme is new, it will set itself up automatically .. if not new, it might still set itself up automatically - look for a green light on the extreme ... if you have a green light you should be in good shape
Of course your computers have to be in range, say within about 100 feet of the extreme to pick up its wireless signal.
In the MacBook, make sure Airport is turned on - in System Preferences under Network.
Your MacBook should figure things out all by itself and you should be able to connect to the Internet.
On the PC, you'll need a wireless card if you don't already have one ...

You should be able to use the internet simultaneously and each computer should be able to share files if you want to try that (file sharing is turned off by default on the Mac, not sure about the PC)

Good luck!

Internet connection drops within 5 min after (re)booting Airport

Speak with your internet provider, it sounds to me that the apple people didnt know what the problem was without getting down and dirtyy with it so they replaced it hoping for an easy fix. Seems to me that either the internet signal is being interrupted between the isp and your home .. or the motorola modem is having problems. I have never been a fan of motorola modems to begin with. Also the rentals u get from cable companies are used.. and typically subpar bottom of the line equipment that fail often. IF you think you will be using cable internet for years to come, purchase a linksys modem, as it is you are paying $3-5 a month for the rental of the modem. But I digress, speak with your isp and see if they cant troubleshoot the problem.. if 2 airports are having the same problem the chances of it being the airport... slim to none. good luck with all of this post again if nothing changes.
