Since the fault seems to be not consistent, it is important that a code check is taken or you will need to do the full maintenance service that is required for the mileage the car has clocked. It can be relative of the engine settings and so perhaps some spares that are to be replaced must be checked like sensors . But atttempt to replace ONLY after a proper check and consensus is taken as you should not replace only by instinct.

Some fault code is stored in the PCM (computer), generally could be some emissions code, but to know excalty what faulto code is, you need scanned the PCM. Some Autozone or Autoshop with scanner reader sometimes make this job for free.

The engine light shows a fault has occurred. The recorded fault will be visible if you have the codes read. One of the most common faults is the MAF (mass air flow sensor) this sometimes shows a wrong reading and logs as a fault, The light may go back out after the engine has completed another self check - if there is no ongoing fault. Take the van to an autoparts store and have them scan the computer for fault codes stored. The check engine light comes on to alert you that the computer has noted a fault in one of the van's systems. Getting the codes will show what faults the computer has noted. fluid levels can be fine however does not mean pressures like Oil pressure is okay.. is it the check engine light or service engine soon light you did not specify... if it is the check engine light you will need to have a diagnostic code reader to search and read any stored emmission trouble codes... you can have a tech scan it for you or you can buy a realtively inexpensive code reader at any discount autoparts store like Kragens or Autozone... please rate my help, thanks
