Question about XRS 9700 Radar Detector

3 Answers

The sound on my Cobra XRS-9700 is all distorted. It sounds like the speaker is busted. I opened it up and looked at the part number on the speaker sm-328al2 8 ohms, 0.5 watt. But I can't find one on the internet. Anyone know where to get another speaker?

Call cobra at 773 889 3087 you can purchase a new speaker for a few dollars it is very simple to install remove four screw on bottom of detector pop out the actual board and unplug the speaker and simply plug in the new one but be careful when taking apart the detector it is all plastic and there are clips that can be easily broken .

I had the same problem and I actually peel the black part of the speaker off of the silver part and there was a copper piece on the inside that needed had desperate from the black part. I superglued the copper piece and the black piece back together and let that dry for a few minutes and then I superglued the black piece back to the silver back piece of the speaker. Let that dry and then put the radar detector back together and now it works just like new.

I called Cobra about the speaker problem, and the rep. told me your lucky if the speakers last for more than a year. I'm sure they don't advertise that. When I asked why, the rep. said it's the users fault for leaving it in the window and heat. She offered to sell me one for about 9 dollars with shipping, but also said it may only last a year. Some quality they have huh. After speaking with her, I would never buy a Cobra product again. If you choose to get a speaker, call 773-889-8870 and select customer service.

Even though it is plugged into power it still won't show any information. It worked one day , but the next day it wouldn't work.

I looked at the 9700's instruction manual, and I could not find any method for resetting the 9700 to its factory default settings. My guess is that the display has failed since there are several other posts for various other Cobra RDs where the display suddenly stopped working.

I need a manual for a cobra xrs 757 for a radar detector any idea where i can find one

The Cobra XRS-757 is the same as the Cobra XRS-9330. The difference in model number is due to the 757 being sold at Wal-Mart stores.

Cobra XRS 757

There are 2 options for power plugs that can be purchased from Cobra for the 757. The straight 12V power cord is listed under item number: 420-030-N-001 and the coiled 12V power cord is listed under item number: 420-026-N-001. Both can be purchased from Cobra by calling their order line at: 773-889-3087 or visiting www.cobra.com

The best way is to call up cobra or ask them a question through their site.

This will link you to the ask page. Just ask if they will sell you a replacement speaker for the radar detector xrs 747. I just ordered one for a friend and it was $4.32 and $2.50 for shipping.
