How toinstall new program

HI Anon.

If you are asking about putting new software or firmware onto a digital camera, the likely path is :

  1. Look on the website for the manufacturer of your cameraunder support. Find the model number and look for software/firmware downloads.
  2. Download the file to your computer, along with any instructions.
  3. You'll propably connect the camera to your computer with whatever type of cable that you usually use to transfer files - these days likely a mini- or micro-USB connection.
  4. Run the upgrade as instructed. There will generally be instructions not to stop the process or unplug until it finishes, so make sure your computer is charged or plugged in, that the camera has a good charge on the battery, and that the cable has a good connection.
Hoping this helps!

How do l download photos from my camera onto a computer when not using a card reader

Most Canon cameras use a "mini USB" cable. Your computer should automatically offer to download when you connect.

Olympus vg 170

To make it possible, to point out where the problem is, you could try some rings.
Try to charge the camera with an external power supply. If you have it, the F-2AC from Olympus.
If that also does not charge, you could try to replace the USB cable.
But if the camera starts charging, you have to look for the USB connector in the computer. Be aware, in some computers the power, delivered from a USB connector, should be capable of giving 5 volt and 500 mA. Sometimes internally the computer is not correct wired, and won't give the 5 volt at all. Special when you hav build the computer yourself, you can check inside the computer. BUT ONLY when is sure the camera can charge via an external USB charger.

Then you could check if nothing is wrong in the camera. All contacts, on battery and in the camera, should be clean and shiny. You could clean contacts with a dry cloth. Never use sharp tools.
Also check the USB connector on the camera, if no debris is in the connector, or no contact is bent or has corrosion on it.

My usb cable isnt chargeing my camera, how can it?

Hello Janie,

Please check the connecting points of camera and the USB cable. If all the connectors are good then USB cable is damaged. Purchase the new cable and charge your camera. Another possibility may battery is damaged. So please also check the camera battery.

Usb device not recognized

Assuming a healthy camera battery, capable of holding a charge - try another cable / USB port / Computer first.

When it's same on all USB ports and a different computer, wiggle the USB connector on the camera carefully. If the connection is ok at some point, it's the camera USB port making bad connection.

On a dcr-hc52 sony handycam, I see DV, DC in and A/V - i'm trying to attach a generic USB cord to download video into camera. Is one of these the right one for USB?

I don't think any of these (DV, DC or A/V) are for the USB. DV denotes Digital Video out- which is typically used by Firewire ports/devices. DC is the DC Power input, and A/V is the Audio Video Out.

Look for a small USB logo around the camera, If you are not familiar with the USB logo looks like, please do a Google-image search, you will get one. This is where the USB will plug in- it will have a 'mini USB' connector at the camera end and a regular USB connector at the computer end. The cable that comes with a Sony camera is grey in colour.

BTW, if you are not sure, please read the manual or consult an expert in person, along with the camera and the accessories that came with it.

If you don;t have the manual, you can look for a PDF of it on the net.

Best of luck.

Dc-t50 won't transfer pictures onto my computer

Hey roboticgirl,
What is most likely causing this are the drivers that run the included software have either been accidentally deleted or they need to be updated. I would reinstall the software that came with the camera, or you could purchase a card reader and upload your pictures to your computer that way which should not require any drivers other than the ones in your operating system. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
