Hello, You will go to google.com and click on login or go to gmail icon in the top right hand corner and login there. If nothing shows up use mozilla/foxfire as internet explorer.
If you have an icon for your Internet browser (i.e., Mozilla Firefox symbol, Internet Explorer, Opera), on your Desktop, click on it and your browser should open. If you don't have a shortcut or an Internet icon pinned to your Taskbar, you can go to Start>All Programs>Internet Explorer, as most computers will have Internet Explorer on them already from factory-settings. I would recommend downloading Google Chrome, as Internet Explorer isn't very user-friendly...
I am hoping that you meant "windows 7" and not windows 8, as there is no such thing as windows 8, only windows 7 premature builds.
You could never connect to the internet via desktop. Mozilla firefox is an internet browser, just as microsoft internet explorer is an internet browser.
You can configure which browser is automatically brought up by opening internet explorer (Start>Internet Explorer) and selecting "use this browser as my default browser".
Check the privacy settings on your Internet Explorer Click Tools => Internet Options => Security => Restricted Sites and check if Yahoo is under the Blocked website list. If not, try downloading other browsers like Mozilla Firefox and try checking your email.
