My Maytag oven is not heating the food. I've checked all the operational buttons, the turntable are all working. No heat!!! The door sems to close with good closure. Will not heat food? It is four years old and only used by two people for supper? Any ideas?
Typically, no heating of food, indicates a bad Magnetron (tube) or associated components. The oven can be repaired. Magnetrons are not hard to replace and can be ordered online through MCM electronics www.mcmelectronics .
However, due to the dangers of high-voltage within the unit, I would recommend taking the unit to a repair center.
Look in the manual to see what the warranty says. See if there is any information regarding the magnetron or parts. You may be able to get it repaired for free parts, less labor.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.
Good Luck,

Exact same unit and same problem. 2 adults using the oven new in 2002 and now no heat.
I will check the warrenty and cost of repair.
Our microwave does the same thing. We bought it in 2002. Everything works except it doesn't heat the food.
Same problem here but it does heat intermittently. I can try 10 times in a row and no heat (light, turntable, sounds are going but no heat), then suddenly it will start heating food.
I've read that it could be the "safety interlock switch".
My MMV5186AA is no longer heating the food, AND, like the others, it was purchased in 2002. Everything else works. I was told it was the magnatron tube, most likely.
