Be sure that you plug original Olympus USB cable directly into USB port on mother board (ussualy on the back side of PC) not on the front pannel hub and not into extention USB cable.
You should be using the software that came with the camera and a usb cable with a usb adapter to download the video to your pc. Install the software on your pc and open it up. Turn off the camera and plug the usb cable to the pc and the other end to the adapter. Plug in the adapter to the camera bottom. Then turn on the camera, should work like a charm.
