Question about Creative Labs Zen Micro MP3 Player

1 Answer

Stuck on CREATIVE Screen

Haven't dropped the player or anything, battery was totally dead yesterday, hadn't been used in a while, plugged it in and it to USB and worked fine, the organizer popped up and could bring all songs up. Today, I can't turn it on at all, unless I take the battery out, then it starts and then just stops with Creative logo, can't turn it off, unless I take the battery out and the organized doesn't recognize that is plugged in. Any answers? not recognised by cumputer, stuck on creative screen, will not turn off unless battery removed, can bring up recovery screen but then freezes when try to clean up or reboot, any help would be great

Here is the firmware upgrade download page on windows xp from Creative.
Before doing the upgrade do a backup of all your data.
After doing the upgrade, if you do it correctly, the problem should disappear.

Here are additional info on how to do the update, scroll down to the middle of the page to find the Zen. it is a very simple operation.

If your creative is not recognized by computer bring it to a service center, they can reinstall the firmware, usually is not an expensive repair.

Try the following as well, as last resort .
Unplug computer power cable from outlet.
If the computer is a laptop remove also laptop battery.
    Remove Zen battery
    Unplug Zen usb from computer.
    wait 20 minutes
    connect all back and restart.

See if computer recognize your player, the procedure above is to neutralize electrostatic charges on usb.
Your problem may have been caused initially by faulty battery that messed up the player, see also if it starts with no battery or with a replacement battery if you have one.

Zen is dead

Sounds like a battery problem - either the battery is totally dead or just needs recharging - note that when the battery totally loses its charge, I believe it is sometimes not possible to recharge it using the usb port and software method (NOTE you MUST have the software installed and running for it to charge this way).. you may have to charge it using the connector to the power adapter.

Creative Zen Vision M - Dead Machine

unfortunately, the best solution is to send it back to creative for them to check it out. this sometimes happens when the player has been unused for too long and battery "under charges", which there is a solution.but seeing as u used it under normal conditions, that cant be the problem

Creative Zen V Plus

Simply let it sit and let the battery run out. When it's totally battery-dead, plug it back in and let it charge. It will be unfrozen when it's ready. You might also want to try sliding the off button down while you hit reset for a quicker version (doesn't always work)
