It's either a dead battery (rechargeable batteries have a limited charge cycle. After a few years they stop accepting a charge) or the DS is bad. The following site sells DS Lite batteries for a decent price. If you want to be 100% sure, find someone with a DS Lite and try their battery in your unit -- or your battery in their unit:

Hi, so if you try switching on the ds lite, nothing at all happens ??
Does the green light flash even if it is for like a split second.If it does then it is more likely top be a blown fuse. If 1 of your screens flicker also, this could be your problem as the ds will not start up with a broken screen. Please advise

Charged DS cuts off during play or won't start
Door? I'm not familiar with the DS but I am very familiar with electronics and yes you do have a short. I would open it up and check the area of the "door" for a loose ribbon cable or electrical connector of some sort.

DS LITE
Ok, then is either that both chargers you used are faulty, or more likely there is a contact in the power charger socket on your nintendo. check it it is moving or not well in place, eventually you will need to chaeck the contacts of charger socket on board inside the DS, the contact must be near there. Until you do not fix it, connecting the charger may be dangerous for your DS .

Power problems with DS Lite
Really sounds like a dead battery. The DS will not work if the battery is bad even when it's plugged in. You get the quick flash of the power light and that's it.

My DS charger isnt charging at all, how can i fix this, please help me!
Can you borrow a friend's charger to see if that charges your DS instead? If so, you know you need to buy a new charger. If not, you know that your DS charging circuit is not working.

You might be able to buy an inexpensive USB-to-DS charging cable and charge it from your computer.
