On the control panel go to trouble shooting > printing problems > advanced

If this doesn't get the ink flowing make sure you are not low on ink by checking the loader and if that is not it check the loader for cracked ink chips in the loader which may be preventing the ink from getting pushed down onto the melting mechanism. I had that problem once and fixed it by shutting the printer off, letting it cool and then laying it on its back side with front up in the air with ink loader open fish out the ink sticks and visually check for broken off ink chips and if none are seen. Do what I did out of frustration, unplug the unit and thru the holes in the ink loader stick a screwdriver in there and try to "lightly" scrape any petrified ink that may be stuck and not clearing out. I did this, felt a little resistance but no chunks or anything broke loose however the problem seemed to have been cured. I suppose I broke some ink loose after all. Good Luck.

This model printer has only two slots for ink cartridges. One is for a black ink cartrigde and the other is for a tri-color cartridge which contains cyan, magenta and yellow inks.
This tri-color cartridge has run out of yellow ink, you need to replace this tri-color cartridge.

Xerox Phaser 8550 having color quality issue

If you are using third party ink sticks contact the manufacture and they will, if you use enough of thier product, send you a new print head and send out a tech to change it. Media Science is the most likely source of third party ink.
You can also switch to Xerox ink sticks and the colors will be correct after several purges to get rid of the old ink.

Xerox 8550 Printer Magenta ink not working.

You need to run the eliminate light stripes. it should be in the menu, under troubleshooting, print quality issues. you can run this up to 3 times. you want the run the basic light stripes, not the advanced. If after 3 times running this, you are still missing jets, your printhead is bad. If you are using aftermarket ink, media sciences might cover the repair, if not, the printhead costs as much as a new machine. about $650+labor.

Serious Color Printer Issues

This is to do with the way in which the cyan, magenta, yellow and black ink is mixed to produce all the colours e.g. to print "red" requires both magenta and yellow ink. Thus, if the magenta ink is not flowing for some reason, for example, the "red" will print out as yellow. So, make sure all your cartridges and nozzles are working properly.

Xerox Phaser 8500 color issue

In all honesty, I suspect the print head has some bad jets on it.
Xerox will not warrany it since there is the presence of non xerox ink in the print head.
When you have tried as much as you have with the maintenance cycles. I would suspect a bad printhead.
When the jets become blocked to the point where you cant get all the colors sprayed onto the drum, you get mismatched colors.
