My LG 50PC5D has been dropped (on carpet) and when I plug it in all it does is make a high pitch sound and has a black screen?
I was told the circiut board may have pulled apart and needs to be re-soldered? And or even a replacement?
Any suggestions?
Hi,
First off I'm sorry to hear that the TV dropped and lost signal especially during this March madness, NBA playoff and MLB opener.
The inside of an LG plasma is like an overzised computer CPU with boards magnified 10x but the current and voltages that run through it are 100x bigger hence only qualified technicians should diagnose and attempt to repair the unit. Granting that the plasma (PDP) panel has not sustained damage (cracks), the technician should open the unit and try to re-seat all the boards and interface cables. Yes, much like computer CPU troubleshooting. Power board may still be good as the unit will power up and you can hear a sound. Have a tech take a look at it and re-seat all the boards. Only then we could get deeper identifying and isolating the problem. Each board cost upwards of $200 while the PDP panel is about 1/3 the price of a new unit. And we're not yet taken into consideration the cost of labor. Best Regards.
Sounds like the internal screen has cracked look closeley to see if you can see any cracks if so new screen im affraid if no cracks suspect power board
