Dryer wont stay on when i release the start button
Estate model tgdx640jq2, wont stay running after i release the start button. If I hold it in the drum seems to be dragging. I do not see anything wedged in there at all.I took the back panel off and all the safeties in the back have continuity. There is one that has 4 wires going to it, 2 red and 2 purple i believe, 2 of those have no continuity but the other 2 have. I did not pull any thing else off, just the back panel.

you have a bad belt switch,if the dryer stays running while you hold the start button on and stops when you release the button its the belt switch part WD21X10261 i've seen this a few times,go here and look at part 803 this is the bad part.
First, check the door switch. Push and release it by hand and you should hear a click. If no sound, replace the door switch with this part. If the switch is ok, press the cancel button on the machine. Then do this. press and hold the start button for 2 seconds then release wait 2 seconds and press and hold again for 2 seconds continue this pattern until the dryer goes into test mode. You will see all the lights on the control light up. press each button on the control one at a time 3 times each. (Do not press the cancel button) until the dryer begins to run. When the dryer starts to run then press the cancel button. Then your machine should function properly.
I think it is probally the thermocouple not holding letting gas valve work properly, timers do not go out very often, its not getting hot enough to release the gas, valve wont let it, chheck thermocouple, let me know im not there, but its in the heat not getting hot enough
Chances are the motor switch is stuck (most likely)or the motor run circuit has failed (least likely but possible).
Disconnect unit from power and expose motor for thorough cleaning. Clean centrifigual switch sliding mechanism on motor shaft. It should move one direction under spring tension and spring back when released. Re-assemble and test.
the centrifical switch on the main motor is not engageing you can take the dryer apart and clean it its on the motor shaft where the pully is but some times you have to replace the motor if the run windings are bad
