Be sure to "finalize" the recorded cd before use in another cd player. Another thing is there are always a few bad discs in a spindle of blank discs... And sometimes you will get "check disc" or "bad disc" when a blank disc is inserted. I would be sure to use blank discs for audio use, not computer use, with your Yamaha.

My Samsung HiFi unit keeps saying invalid when I try to play a CD.

That can happen for two reasons.

The CDs are copies, CD-R or CD-RW and it can't read the format. Or, if there is copyright software in the unit, which was developed by Sony, it recognizes pirated discs and blocks them from play.

Or the laser optics are dirty. you can get cleaning discs from Amazon which brush the optics clean of dust.

Why doesn't it record to md?

You can't make a copy of a copy of a digitally recorded MiniDisc, so make sure that isn't what's happening- if so, it usually says "Din Unlock" and you can't record. I think when I record from one deck to the other digitally, I have set the recording deck to "REC", then I hit 'play' on both decks at the same time. Using the digital input, it should automatically set your track marks. You cannot make a digital copy of this MiniDisc, BUT you can make an Analog copy. Let me know if you need more info.

Can copy from analog sources, but can't copy from digital source, eventhough the signal is monitored. The display says "can't copy".

Media
The unit requires Digital Audio CD-R or CD-RW media for
recording. Computer CD-R or CD-RW discs do not work with
this unit.

Serial Copy Management System
This unit is in compliance with the Serial Copy Management
System standard. This standard has been established to
restrict digital-to-digital copying to only the first generation.
The basic rules governing this system are as follows:
Rule 1
A digital recording is possible from a digital source such as a
CD, DAT or MD onto a recordable CD-R, CD-RW, MD or DAT
through a digital input connection. However, further digital
to- digital recording is prohibited for the second and later
generations.
Rule 2
When an analog source such as an analog disc or FM
broadcast is digitally recorded by using a CD-R, CD-RW, MD
or DAT, this recorded source can be digitally recorded on
another CD-R, CD-RW, MD or DAT. However, further digital
copying is prohibited.

If I want to record let's say someone speaking for 90 min and burn 2 cd's , one 60min and the other 30 min from the one 90min recording , each one divided into tracks , how would I do this ?

If you want to burn a CD you have to make a master. For 2 cd's you have to make 2 masters, one for each recording.
The best way to handle this is to "create a song" for each speech giver and give each a name. This is because you can make only one master copy of a song before burning a Cd.

But another way is to :
1. Make a master of the first speech giver (who is on one track) and record to the Cd.
2. Make a new master of the second speech giver (on the other track) and record to Cd.
As long as you don't mind, the second mastering will overwrite the first one that you did, but then you already have burned a copy of that Cd!

I have a samsung dvd-v4600...and when i put the dvd disc in it just keeps loading and will not load ..what do i do to fix this?

Hi,
Does it do with original DVD or copied DVD ?.
if the original one works fine but the others not, your DVD may not capable of playing copy -R/RW discs..even though your DVD specs says: Plays DVD-Video, video-mode DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW, CD-R/CD-RW, MP3 CD, Kodak Picture CD, and JPEG image CDs, sometimes this happens due to bad recording of DVD .Try to use better recorded DVD or if possible use the original ones..
Thanks in advance for rating me..Regards

Where can I get CD-R's that will work on this machine in Australia these days? ie Are there any non audio marked CD-R's that will work in it? I have tried Verbatim and TDK CDr's without any success. I have...

I don't know about availability of CDR-A or -Music in Australia but they are the only media that home CD Audio Recorders are designed to use.

Regarding the CD-RW Audio disks - I've used them for quite some time and do eventually get uncorrectable errors on them but never No Disc displays. Just the same, I don't consider them reliable enough for vital long term storage of music and use my PC to copy them to a CDR as soon as I can. Being a data- rather than real-time-music copy, I reckon the PC may be able to retry errors it encounters and maybe correct them during the copy.

CD recorder says "no disc" for every blank CD put in

Are you using CD-Audio or CD-Music media or CD-R's. Home recording CD recorders require the first types and will not work on CD-R's. It's a specification built in that supposedly collects and distributes a small fee from the sale of the blank Music CD's to give to the copyright holders of the music you are assumed to be pirating. Sort of like buying a card that let's you exceed the speed limit legally when you buy a sports car.
Additionally, the unit will not let you digitally copy a digital copy made on a consumer recorder. That spec was all thought up and implemented before everyone got PC's that can rip/copy/pirate prerecorded CD's without any restrictions. The digital copy horse left the barn years ago and audio CD recorders are still tied to special (more costly) media.

WILLNOT REPLY DISC THAT IDRECORDED ONTHIS PRODUCT

I feel for you. I've had the same thing happen with my own CR recordings and I can't imagine why the creating unit has problems while others do not. On the CD's I have trouble with there is usually some unevennesss in the reflective surface after recording rather than a nice uniform appearance. I'm betting that means something like uneven tracking while laying the data down.

Bite the bullet and rerecord the CD or try this - use a CD copy application on your PC. I use Sonic. The copying process can spend more time recovering errors than normal playback allows. Or try file copying. One function or the other might get back most if not all of your music.
