Fuel pump noise 2005 Buell xb9sx

The fuel pump will charge before I start the bike (loud noise), like normal. Once the bike is running it still makes the same loud noise, even after riding it for awhile.

That is the fuel pump doing its job of pumping. If it stops making noise, it stopped pumping, and no gas is getting into your motor. Your bike will not run without a running fuel pump. :)

I have a 2005 Pontiac that makes a hissing noise underneath the car. you can turn the car ignition on without fully starting car and it still makes hissing noise then stops.HELP!!!!!

There is a distinct sound that has a hissing component when you first turn on the key. It will last a second or two when the key is turned to the run position. When the engine started the sound will return and continue to produce the noise so long as the engine is running.

A relatively low noise is normal. If you are concerned check other like cars for the loudness level.

how to check your fuel pump

The pressure regulator on the fuel rail can also produce a sound when the fuel pump is running. The regulator is under the hood and any reasonable noise would not be a concern, A clicking sound is also normal throughout the fuel system when the engine is running created by the fuel injectors cycling.

Sometimes when i overtake there is no power when i twist the throttle, then it kicks in with a jump

Look at your fuel pressure - make sure that you have good CLEAN GAS in the bike, this is usually a fuel pump issue.

Buell 05 xb9sx motor turns over, has spark, getting fuel, but wont fire up?

The spark plugs may be fouled. They often will fire when outside the motor, but will not fire when installed. Replace the plugs, inspect the plug wires for damage, and try again.

07 buell lightning xb9... stored for a while and now when attempting to start a loud clicking noise... tried to jump started but same clicking noise... new battery???

I have a Buell M2 and a Buell Rirebolt.
When the batteries go, they leave us with clicking solenoids. There is enough power for ignition but not enough for the starter motor, hence the clicking noises.
That is possibly what you are experiencing.
Hope that helps.

Is the fuel pump suppose to make a noise while driving

It'll make a noise but it shouldn't be loud enough for you to hear it while riding unless you have ears like a cat. Ask a buddy to let you ride his fuel injected bike and see if you can hear his pump.

Good Luck

I have a 2005 Yamaha YFZ600 with only 3500 miles on it. The bike won't start and if I do get it started once I give it gas it stalls out. I've change the gas filter and clean the carburetors and floats....

Now that you brought up the sound phenomenon, it is not a normal procedure for any fuel pump. To me it seems that the fuel pump is faulty and there is no fuel going to the carb. And that is why it does not start. And when you try too hard it does start with whatever you have and then goes off when you rev it up. So open up the fuel pump and check its bearings etc. The noise means that the bearings are not up to the mark.

Buell Ulysses

Did you check the charging system? Sounds like when you ride it the battery drains. Could be you are drawing more amps than it is putting out. Sometimes folks run a lot of accessories, extra lites/ heated garments/etc on their Ulys. Once sitting for a few days it builds up enough to start.
