Sat Nav Garmin c510 Deluxe

Hello there,

I have a problem with my Garmin Sat Nav.

When I turn the GPS unit on, it says: 'can't unlock map', so now I am unable to type in a destination postcode to get directed to.

Please could you advise what I need to do to fix this problem please?

I am looking to be able to access my UK maps which I could previously get, but for some reason there is now this problem.

Do you have a sd card? are you unlocking to much for the unit to hold memory wise?

Going back to the security location will unlock the unit but in order to reset the pin code, the original pin code must be input.
To unlock the unit, it must be sent back to Garmin.

StreetPilot satnavs probably use the same method. You may need to skip to paragraph 2 and start from there.

Updates for garmin c510 sat nav
Updates can be got from www.garmin.com To update the software you need to connect the satnav to your computer. Download webupdater from http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27 and install it. Follow the prompts and it should take you through updating your software.

To update the map
  1. Click the link https://my.garmin.com/maps/updates.htm
  2. Click on All other devices
  3. Type in your Serial number
  4. Click Find
  5. Click Buy Disk (Please note if the message "No updates are found" then you already have the latest mapping)
  6. Click Add To Cart
  7. Click to Accept Trading Terms
  8. Click Checkout
  9. Enter your myGarmin Username and Password in the onscreen boxes (If you don't currently have a myGarmin account, click Create new Account)
  10. Click Sign In
  11. Enter your Shipping address
  12. Click Save & Continue
  13. Enter your Credit Card information
  14. Click Submit Order
  15. Write down your Order Number
It may take up to 4-6 weeks to receive the DVD depending on availability

How do i get free map updates? I have registered my garmin and tried to get free map updates with no luck? I really don't think i shld have to pay to update my sat nav!
From my experience, there is no such thing a as a free map update from Garmin.....good luck.

I turned my streetpilot c510 deluxe on today for the first time since before christmas and it asked me if today was 26th febuary once i hit no it was acquiring satalites and could not find them. Sat nav...
turn the unit on leave it outside once it acquires satellites it should update time and date, you may want to plug it in because it may take awhile to get satellites.

No detailed maps found that support routing the streetpilot cannont be used without them garmin streetpilot c510
You're unit is probably missing the gmapprom.img file (failed update maybe?).

Try contacting Garmin - if you've got registered maps they may send you another copy (although big file - 100+MB)

New Maps - Can't update unit
The new maps will be unlocked to your GPS using the code Garmin supplied you.

You will have to add these maps to a second SD card if your present card is full, or else purchase a larger card. Since all the Mapsource NT 2008 Europe maps are 1,395MB in size, you'll need to purchase at least a 2GB SD card.
