Be real carefull on the flat cable attached to the front bezel!

Service Tag (bar code on the back or bottom of the computer):
On more recent model the service tag is on the top and could be without barcode.

The problem you have mentioned may not be due to contrast setting but the LCD itself . Power on the mointor and disconnect the signal cable from the back. if you see a self test box running on the LCD , the LCD is oK . If you donnot see the self test box the LCD is back. Dell doesnot service LCDs and you may need to get in touch with the local repair shop.

remove all screws at the back. and unlock all snap lock at the back cover.

remove all screws and unlock all snap lock of back cover.

You can turn counter-clockwise the screwz at the back cover of your monitor to open it & check if the power button is loose or defective, even notice if some internal part/s are cold soldered / defective. However, if it's still under Warranty, I recommend to bring the unit to an authorized service center for a Free service check-up & replacement part/s. best regards

generally dell monitors open from the bottom they have slight indented flat spaces for a small flat head screw driver to twist and pop the frame apart I start on the bottom left and work my way right and then open the sides carefully and last the top.

get your Dell manual out and look in the index for lcd cover. It should tell you how to take it off and maintain it. If things get behind it it should be removable. Also www.dell.com is very informative with their support group.
