SOURCE: scan letter

Most scanners in my experience do not scan to "precisely" 8 1/2 X 11 inch letter size (assuming that was the original paper size).

A workaround is possible with some graphic programs. After importing the original incorrect scan of the document into the software a combination of resizing and/or cropping (depending on how your program works) will allow getting the exact dimensions. Then save as a new image document. Make sure to adjust for sufficient resolution (a larger document) if you plan to reprint.

I need to scan a signed letter and send it through email to someone......put the signed copy into the printer and hit scan which it did but now what............how do I get it to be part of an email?? ...

1 Turn on your computer and printer, and make sure they are connected.
2 Load your original document.
3 Click Start >> All Programs >> Dell Printers >> Dell Photo AIO Printer 964 >> Dell All-In-One Center.
4 Click Preview

You should now see a preview of your scanned document.

Adjust the dotted lines if they are not completely around your document.
There is a 'Send scanned image to:' option -

You can save the document to your desktop.

Now go into your mail program and when in the body of the email, use your programs features to attach the scanned file document to your email (you did not specify the email program you use, so this is just a general mention of attaching the file to your email).

I'm having trouble scanning B&W documents with my Epson V300. The edges of the letters in the text are jagged and hard to read and there is what appears to be a crease or fold in the document when the...

You have two options for scanning text. You may explore both of them and see which is better for you. Either way, you will have to make friends with manually changing the scanning settings, because simple presets often are not suited for every case.

First is to use Grayscale mode, and a minimum resolution of 200dpi. This should give you satisfactory text quality. If you want to print the text afterwards, 300dpi would be even better. You may want to increase contrast, to get the letters more defined and eliminate most of the background toning.

Second is to use Black and White (monochrome) mode, but in this case you need to set the resolution higher, preferrably to 600dpi. Also in this case you will have to play with the Black/White threshold in order to eliminate background "dirt" appearing as black artefacts.

If you scan the documents in order to process them with OCR software, usually the OCR application will give you suggestions on how to set the scanning parameters to obtain good results.

How do I scan a document to a e-mail

Here is a link to the users guide to your printer. After it opens go down to the basic scanning section. It will show you how to scan to a file. If it is a document be sure to select the .pdf file type. Also make a note of where it is going to save the file on your computer (most of the time it's My Document > My Scans) So now that you have scanned the file to your computer, open up your email and start a new email. Find where it says "attachement" and click on it. A box will pop open asking you to browse for your file. Just go to where you saved the file and click on the file and hit OK. Your document will be attached to the email.

Please don't forget to rate this solution.

How do i send letters through email.

You will need a scanner to do this. If you have a scanner, all you have to do is scan the document (letter) you want to email, save it to a location on your computer that will be easy for you to find (the desktop), then through your email program select "add attachment. Now select the file you saved and click "email". Hope this helps, If not, write a follow-up question and I can help you further. Good Luck!

I want to scan and email a document from my new HP DESKJET F4280 printer. I can scan it, and then I try to share it, but when I hit the send button it says there is no internet connection. Am I right in...

When you scan a document it must be scanned with OCR software. The default scanning method will scan a document as a picture, not a document with letters and words. The OCR software will recognize the letters and put the scanned document in the proper format to open it with MS Word. The software that you scan with should have a setting for OCR, read your instructions or help files to get the details if you can not find them very easy in the software you use for scanning. .

The problem with using Outlook may be that you have not set it up properly to get your emails from your email server. You do not need to use Outlook or Outlook express to send any documents, you can use your web based email server if you like, but you can use Outlook Express as well. You just need to add the document to send as an attachment to the email.

To set up Outlook Express to get your email, you must first find out what the POP3 and SMTP setting you must use. You can get that information from your email provider, it is different for every email provider. Then you go to the "File" menu at the top left of Outlook Express and select "Identities" and select "Add New Identity" and from there you will go thru a wizard to guide you thru the process of setting up your email client. Just make sure you have the POP3 and SMTP settings available for you to put into Outlook Express when prompted to in the wizard.
