I have a new pc and lost my software that came with my canon rebel eos xt. How can I upload my picture to the new pc? Can I find software on line? Or should I keep looking for the disk that came with the camera?

You can download software and more from the manufacturer's web site at http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=314&modelid=11209

There are several ways to upload photos from your camera to the PC without using the Canon software:

1- Take out the memory chip from the camera and connect it directly to the PC using a suitable USB card reader. Windows might ask you what to do with the files, choose Open Folder. Otherwise go to Start/My Computer/ will show the card as an external disc with the photo files inside some folders. Ctrl+A will select all the photos Copy/Paste to your Photos folder in the PC.

2- Connect the Camera directly to the PC using the USB cable provided when you bought the camera. Switch the camera on into review mode, then follow the procedure above.

3- Use Google's picasa ( free from www.picasa.com ) and use the import function either from the card or from the camera after connecting them following the above procedures.

Just uploaded new software version 6.4.1 for my Canon and I have lost the Remote Shooting function, can anybody help?

I guess you are aware that remote shooting is possible only when you put the camera in a creative zone mode, that is "P, Av, Tv, or M." The firmware does not have any such associated complaints.

Try changing the "communication" setting on the camera from "PC Computer" to "PTP"

Lost Installation Software for Canon Rebel XT

I have created an ISO image of my Canon 350D software CD and uploaded it to filefactory.com
You can download it here http://www.filefactory.com/file/aga8gc6/n/EOSv10_zip
You should be able to get a free download slot, keep trying if the server is busy.

If you do not have software which can extract the ISO file, try the excellent CDBurnerXP, completely free from http://cdburnerxp.se

Once you have burned this to a CD, just insert and the Canon installer menu should automatically appear.

Please take the the time to rate this solution.

Download pictures from my Rebel EOS to my computer

Take a look at Picasa, from Google. Also take a look at Irfanview. I haven't used Irfanview in over a year (since I moved from a PC to a Mac - it's the one piece of software I really miss on my Mac), but before I moved to the Mac it was my primary photo organizer and viewer. It's a very impressive program for free software from an individual programmer (Irfan).

Internal memory

To LanaJones123

I'm afraid the Canon Rebel does NOT have an internal memory for storing pictures. Any pictures taken without a card installed will be lost.

How do you upload a picture taken without a card on your Canon Rebel XT?

The rebel comes with a mini-USB adapter cable. Just plug it into your PC and the camera, and the PC should see it as a USB drive. Then copy or move the images as you would any other files. If you do not have the cable, they are available at Best Buy.
