Battery dosn´t charge, camera gets hot

My kodak M863 is only 1 year old. Now the battery (Li-ion KLIC 7001) dos not charge and the camera gets very hot when it is connected to the charger. Can you tell my what is the most probable malfunction (battery, camera or charger)?

It is possible they sold you a faulty battery pack. .

Contact them and explain your problem; they should replace it at no cost to you

The non-functioning of the camera can be a fault in the shutter, zoom or auto focus sections and may be due to the failure of the Main control system or the drive. A simple was is to reset and we can try by removing the battery and card for some time. Now replace only the battery and while switching power ON, tap the lens hood on the palm of your hands so as to disengage any dirt or mechanism being struck. You can spray a degreasing spray on the lens hood sides and also assist the lens as it tries to come out, attempt to pull it out slowly while powering ON the camera. Also in some cases you can slid a thin film/paper on the lens hood sides to wipe out any dirt.

Tips to open and check for common faults: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2Mj3Qp3xYU&feature=related
Use some air to blow between the lenses to dislodge any sand particles struck inside. Unless you are familiar with handling of small devices must you try and open. If so check the voltage on the motor drive check the auto focus and Zoom drives, it must be free with manual movement. If jammed the motor can be removed and released. If none of these works then you can think of taking consensus with the service centre.
Get estimate before you decide. It will be good to have it checked at the authorised service as you do not have to run around for spares.

What battery number fits in my kodak easyshare m1063 i bought a KLIC-7001 AND IT DOES NOT FIT.

Hello, Elsie -

The user manual for the Kodak EasyShare M1063 camera states it takes a Kodak Li-Ion rechargeable digital camera battery, KLIC 7001.

See the user manual (PDF document) here:
http://resources.kodak.com/support/pdf/en/manuals/urg00868/M1063_MD1063_MX1063_UG_GLB_en.pdf

Page 1, Step 2 even has an illustration of the battery and the direction in which to install it.

If the battery still does not fit, I suggest you visit a nearby store which sells cameras and camera equipment and ask one of the individuals working there for assistance with the battery and camera. (Take the camera and battery with you.)

Best wishes.

The batteries may just be "dead" and beyond charging. Before you toss them though, clean the contacts by wiping them firmly with a soft cloth and then try charging them again. If the problem persists, check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:
