Tape mechanism I have a Canon camcorder which takes Mini DV tapes. The mechanism for the tape (i.e. inserting and ejecting) works fine until I try and put a tape in the slot - The camera whirrs, bleeps and then ejects the (brand new) tape again. It seems like a very small problem and easy to solve; what do you think? Dan

This sounds bizarre I know, but I read another threat regarding Canon camcorders and tapes self ejecting. The advice was to ........ wait for it........ drop it onto a carpet floor from about 1/2m. My wife top me not to consider it. I continued reading and someone else had been successful using the technique. I have to report that it actually works. I dropped it (twice for good measure) and it loads tapes once again. Its true what they say, if in doubt....give it a clout!!!

I dont believe it. Dropping it on the floor really does work. I only dropped it about 5 cm from the ground and it worked straight way. Strange but true.

Hi.
Sounds as though the tape drive motor is failing to drive. Not as simple as it sounds. In the past, I simply checked that the flexi pcb from the tape drive motor was pushed right into it's connection after inspecting it for moisture damage. Luckily, i needed to look no further.

Canon ZR300 Mini DV Digital Camcorder THE MINI DV TAPE IT DOES NOT GO INSIDE THE CAMERA, SOUND LIKE IS GOING BUT IS EJECTED WITH A AUDIO WARNING AND IN THE VIEWFINDER SAY REMOVE THE TAPE AND A X APPEARS,...

I know this is going to sound strange. I had the same issue with my ZR300. When you insert a tape and close the mechinism you hear the tape whirl then it pops open and chimes. I found a solution online and thought it was to good to be true. It said to hold the camcorder in your left hand with the right side up (the opposite side of the fold out viewer). You then hit the camcorder , not real hard like slapping something. Open the door and insert the tape and WHAM! It loaded fine. Eight people had tried it according to the review and all eight people had success. I was skeptical but it works! Don't hit it so hard you break it. I did mine twice before it worked but it works everytime now. Trust me just try it and it will work.

I was getting a message clean heads, so I bought the cleaning mini DV to insert. I pressed the button to open the door where the mini DV tape is and it popped up, but will not pop open to release the...

It sounds like something has jammed the tape door mechanism preventing it from opening. This is a very delicate part of a mini DV camcorder. I would highly recommend taking it to a electronics repair shop where it can be checked out. If you try and force the tape out you will probably cause considerable damage to the tape transport system making your camcorder unusable.

Take Care,

I had the same problem. I cycled through the eject process until it finally gave me back my tape. I had to send it back to have the tape carriage replaced

I have a Canon Elura 65 mini DV camcorder. When I

I had this problem and I only ejected a cassette. I tried new and old cassettes. Same result as you experienced.
What I did and I again don't condone striking electronics as a means to repair them but, at the advice of another post and having tried everything I could think of, I stuck the bottom of the camcorder with the palm of my hand several times and it worked. I don't know why it worked and it really shouldn't have but it did.
I think the real problem is a cleaning/lubrication and ultimately should see service by a local trusted shop. Try it I had nothing to lose and it worked for me.....

Hi,
The mechanical of the tape loading path is misaligned, Contact any expert for mechanical adjustment of the tape loading path, No worries it will work fine again, and this would not be expensive.

Canon Elura 65 Camcorder Refuses to Load Mini DV Tape

Try a different tape in case the take up isn't working in the previous tape.

Clean the tape heads with a tape cleaner in case there is buildup on the pinch rollers causing the tape to jam or slip.

If those solutions don't work, you should take it into a repair shop to have a closeup view as to what the problem is unless you see something obvious like a spring broken or loose or a bent piece or foriegn objects in the deck.
