It is quite simple. You will have on your hard drive, where your data file is located some locked files. they will be called lock .flk or maybe even one called access. When you see these files, drag them to the trash and empty the trash. If the trash cannot be emptied. Shutdown your computer and restart.

This should release the lock. These files are normal to see when you are in MYOB but if you crash out they should dissappear, occassionaly they will not.

I recently bought an unused NASSTOR NAS COPPER storage system, the default login information was not available though. Does anyone know default login that Nasstor use on systems with a Centos OS ?

Odd. During installation you get prompted for both a root password, plus a non-privileged user + password.
So after install you will always have both privileged and non-privileged access.

It is the non-privileged user you should use for logging on to the desktop, and use 'su -' whenever you need root in a terminal.
Graphical ui-tasks that require root will prompt you for the root password.

I can't configure IFace800 access control to work with electric lock , I used zk access 3.5 software. to give some users permission to access the door, my problem is the door listen for all users

create several access groups,
General
Privileged
Security
Cleaners
visitors

add the doors specific for each group access
then assign people to be members of the various groups for door access

so basic employees would have general access only
managers might have General AND Privileged
Security officers would have General and Security (Security group would most likely be Privileged plus a few extra doors)

take some time to come up with a suitable scheme for access that allows fro most daily things to happen smoothy without compromising security.

You cannot access the data on this computer

It normally happen when you tried to access a file or folder which is saved on any other user which is password protected.

But yes still if you have administrative privileges you can access this file.

For this.

Do a right click on the file and folder and go to propeties.
Then go to security and give permission to "everyone" user after that open the properties once again and give full permission to "everyone".

Delete-can't delete files or folder 7 windows bench top computer

I'm not sure what the issue exactly is with the folders. Here are a few solutions that may or may not work depending on what issue it may be:

If you are not an administrator, give your account administrator rights in the control panel, and that may help you bluntly delete them.

If you require "SYSTEM" privileges, go into the advanced security section of the files you want to delete. There, find your account or username, edit your privileges to allow (shown with a check-box) deleting. Then, find the system privileges for those files, and deny, also shown with a text box, the similar privileges. Essentially, you'll be giving your account the privileges the "SYSTEM" has.

Another solution you can try, is going into the CMD (command prompt), found by opening the "Start Bar", and typing 'cmd'. There, use the commands, 'takeown', and 'icacls', to manually take ownership of the files and give yourself privileges over the files. Since this is a lengthy explanation in itself, you can simply find an explanation on the internet, by searching for 'file ownership with cmd'.

One final solution you can use, is to download McAfee's free security software trial. In their software package, there is a separate "Shredder" program that absolutely destroys files you select. What the program does, is give itself elevated access above your system to destroy the files.

On a personal note, if the files refuse to go with all of these methods, it is either a nasty rootkit/worm/virus, or just a problem I didn't list the solution too. If you feel it is behaving funny or lagging your computer, I recommend wiping your hard drive.

Hi, I'm having problem opening my backup file from my USB that I copy from my old laptop to my new laptop. When I try to open the back up file their is an error saying: unable to open file. file maybe...

you need to to take ownership of a file or a folder then copy them over
How to take ownership of a fileYou must have ownership of a protected file in order to access it. If another user has restricted access and you are the computer administrator, you can access the file by taking ownership.

To take ownership of a file, follow these steps:
  1. Right-click the file that you want to take ownership of, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Security tab, and then click OK on the Security message (if one appears).
  3. Click Advanced, and then click the Owner tab.
  4. In the Name list, click Administrator, or click the Administrators group, and then click OK.

The administrator or the administrators group now owns the file.
To change the permissions on the file that you now own, follow these steps:
  1. Click Add.
  2. In the Enter the object names to select (examples) list, type the user or group account that you want to have access to the file. For example, type Administrator.
  3. Click OK.
  4. In the Group or user names list, click the account that you want, and then select the check boxes of the permissions that you want to assign that user.
  5. When you are finished assigning permissions, click OK.
  6. You can now access the file.
How to take ownership of a folderYou must have ownership of a protected folder in order to access it. If another user has restricted access and you are the computer administrator, you can access the folder by taking ownership.

To take ownership of a folder, follow these steps:
  1. Right-click the folder that you want to take ownership of, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Security tab, and then click OK on the Security message (if one appears).
  3. Click Advanced, and then click the Owner tab.
  4. In the Name list, click your user name, or click Administrator if you are logged in as Administrator, or click the Administrators group. If you want to take ownership of the contents of the folder, select the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects check box.
  5. Click OK, and then click Yes when you receive the following message: You do not have permission to read the contents of directory folder name. Do you want to replace the directory permissions with permissions granting you Full Control? All permissions will be replaced if you click Yes.

Note folder name is the name of the folder that you want to take ownership of.
  6. Click OK, and then reapply the permissions and security settings that you want for the folder and its contents.

Locked file ?

The folder lock can oly be solved by chosing the option "format" in the sub-menu. But please copy the *.dss - files still resting at your card at your harddisk first.

When the recorder finishes the format procedure, all folders will be unlocked again.

The "Read-Only-Failure" will occur again at recorders with differend user profiles, when you put the switched-off recorder into the docking station first and switch the power button to "on". So avoid this constellation!
