DO a system to go back to a known good date. Go to start > programs > accessories > system tools > system restore. Select a date when the camera was still working great. Let the computer restart by itself to complete the restoration.
If no go, try going to safe mode: Restart the computer and tap F8 once you see the options to go to safe mode, use the arrow keys to highlight it. Press enter and try if your camera works inside of safe mode.
If your camera works in safe mode, then it's a software problem (specifically the driver). If all fails, I suggest that you install Radarsync and let it run so that it will automatically search for outdated drivers. It will update them all as well.
most of the drivers are pre loaded on computer if your camera is not supplied with one( if the camera has one CD with it than insert the CD computer will load the required driver ) then check wich windows or mac version you are using load the version required to support this camera

It seems Cyberlink was the original install software, so I would try finding or buying Cyberlink to see if it will work for your camcorder on a Win7 machine. If the link doesn't work, you might have to cut and paste twice.
I bought this camera off ebay. I do not have any software for it. I cannot get it to transfer pictures to my computer. I think i need to install a driver. It is a Sharp 3x Optical Zoom Digital Still Camera VE-CG40. Where can I download a driver?
Some just will never work. but try this.
1. Install the MOTHERBOARD DRIVERS for your machine.
2. Try VIRTUAL DUB. Hint: Free, found with google.com
3. See if Windows Movie Maker is still available. Hint: I never use it, so I can't tell you much about it.
