I have a LC-37G4U. When I turned it on this AM a section of the screen-almost middle is blurred. The section is approximately 2 inches wide and goes from top to bottom. I've trouble shooted as best I can. Has anyone seen this issue. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks-Jim
May be an issue with LCD ribbon cable
Check the lcd cable and cable connectors inside your tv, if ribbon cable is out of place you have similar problems
I had the following post from a sharp rep. regarding your model on sharp avs forum. I do not know if it can be related to your problem:
A capacitor was miss-marked from the factory. The stamp on the
component said 100uf and it was actually 10uf. Caused all kinds of
power issues. They come in 5,000 unit rolls for the auto insertion
machines.
If you own a Sharp Aquos *D4/6U Model and have been having any of the following problems:
1. Unit turning itself on/off at random times
2.
Unit locking up and fails to respond to remote or set-top butons, unit
must be unpluged and plug in again to get set to respond.
Please
contact Sharp at 1-800-BE-SHARP (237-4277) and report the problem,
Sharp will give you a Case # that you will need if any service is to be
needed or done.
Sharp has released a firmware fix/upgrade as
of 2/27/05 to try and correct these issues. I have already received
this firmware upgrade as of 2/28/06, from my local Official Sharp
Repair Center but have yet had time to really monitor my set for any
improvement. Below is a link to the AVSfourms where you can post on any
of these issues you may be having with your Unit. The thread is
monitored by a Sharp Rep (Mike53 The Sharp Guy) and he will be glad to
help anyone as much as he can.

Check first the lcd display connectors as well, if they are ok you may need tou upgrade tv firmware.

You need to disassemble your TV (not the box) and the cable is a flat ribbon connected on one side to the lcd display. You need some electronic DIY skills, if you are not experienced in DIY electronics, I suggest contacting first Sharp, to check if you are affected from bug descripted above, and eventually ask them how to do a firmware upgrade, that should not be too difficult.
Do also a hard-reset using a paper clip on the bottom hole next to the three coax inputs.
If you have to work inside your TV ensure that you have proper skills and experience, it is a delicate, fragile (and expensive) device, consider calling in a repairman if you do not feel safe working inside your tv.
Last thing sharp customer number above is for USA. If you leave in a different region you can find the right contact number from this link here.
regards.

Thanks ginko,
When you say inside your TV, are you saying the actual cable connections or something within the TV box itself? This TV is mounted on a wall.
When you say ribbon cable, what does it look like?
I'm headed to work in a flash. I may not get back to this until this evening.
