Hi Experts. I was working with Windows 95 for many years and resently bought Windows XP Prof. Now I experience the problem that my 2 Floppy drives 3½'' don't read my stiffies that was saved on Windows 95. It tells me that there is no disk in the drive and sometimes ask me if I want to format the stiffie disk, it also don't read program stiffies that I bought like Flight Simulator, Brix or The Incredible Machine. Please ! ! What must I do to solve the problem ? All my stiffies that XP can't read was saved with Lotus 123R5W while working with Windows 95. Thanks, Hope to get an answer soon.

SOURCE: Stiffy drive don't respond and DVD Rom spin but don't read CD.

Try different discs to determine whether it's the disc or the drive. If it's the drive the the lens on drive might be dirty, try cleaning it with proper "Cleaning CD" if that doesn't help the drive it self might be going out (as in the mechanical parts on the drive). In the later case the only solution is buy a new drive.

Install windows 95 from floppy

Microsoft Windows 95 employs the use of a bootable floppy disk to begin the installation of the Windows 95 operating system or to troubleshoot problems with the system. Microsoft Windows 95 uses the MS-DOS system to boot the computer first and then loads the Windows 95 operating system onto the machine. Windows 95 Boot Disks may be created in one of two ways: The Startup disk may be created from within Windows or a boot disk may be created from a free downloaded boot disk image. After the boot disk is created the disk may be used to boot the computer and install or troubleshoot Windows 95.

Click "Start" and then click "Settings" in Windows 95. Click the "Control Panel" option. Click "Add and Remove Programs." Click "Startup Disk" and then click "Create." Insert the blank floppy disk into the disk drive. Click "OK." The operating system will create the Windows 95 boot disk. Click "OK" when the disk is finished. Create the Windows 95 Boot Disk using Downloaded Boot Disk Image Open a Web browser and navigate to the boot disk image site (See "Below"). http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm Download the Windows 95 boot disk image and save the .EXE file to the desktop. Click the .EXE file to unzip the enclosed files. The formatting application will start. Insert the blank floppy disk into the disk drive and click "OK." The Windows 95 boot image will be created on the blank floppy disk. Use the Windows 95 Boot Disk Insert the Windows 95 boot up disk into the computer's floppy disk drive. Power the computer down by clicking "Start" and then clicking "Shutdown." Power on the computer with the Windows 95 boot disk in the floppy disk drive. The computer will boot up into MS-DOS to enable installation or troubleshooting of Windows 95.

Will a superdiak model work on win xp

I believe it's a usb connection? It should work on xp. The only problem i can think of is the driver, which should be available on their website. Is it an Imation brand?

Try plugging into windows xp and if it will ask for a driver then head over to manufacturer's site and download the appropriate driver.

for imation external floppy drivers, click here.

hope this helps.

Same problem with my MPF82E

Hi,
You see floppy drives are pretty old technology compared to the Vista environment which is the latest. Your floppy external drive will most likely run better in the Windows XP environment along with the necessary drivers on device manager under control panel...and those drivers you can also download. Am sure it will work better with windows 98 or XP.

Thanks & Kind Regards

USB external floppy drive

In windows XP and later the USB mass communication driver are in built, so you can use these devices like USB Floppy drive, USB HDD, Memory card, flash memory etc...

But before windows XP Microsoft did not supply the driver for USB mass storage devices. So, in your case you have to install the Driver for your USB Floppy drive, then you can use this drive as Floppy drive but after complete boot of your Windows 95.

If any problem or more question Just Ask me

Thanks
