Check that you have a signal going out of the monitor socket on your lalptop.

On Dell with projector connected and switched on, press the blue fn button bottom left usually, and while holding, press one marked CRT/LCD, (maybe f8) this will cycle to the following.
laptop only, laptop and monitor, monitor only, while holding Fn button press until you have desired outcome.

hope this helps.

HOW TO USE DAYLIGHT PROJECTOR IN STEP BY STEP

Hi LCD projectors have revolutionized the audiovisual industry. With a few clicks of the mouse and strokes of the keyboard, whatever you type on your computer appears instantly on a projection screen in real time. If you have never experimented with an LCD projector, however, do not worry. You can learn how to use an LCD projector.

  • Plug the LCD projector in to a power outlet. Completely plug the power cord in to the back of the LCD projector.
  • Step 2Use a VGA cable (usually a 15-pin male to male) to connect your computer to the LCD projector. Insert one end of the cable into the VGA connector (sometimes this connector is blue) in the back of your computer and do the same in the back of your LCD projector. If the LCD projector has more than one VGA connector, choose the one that says something like "line in" or "in from computer."
  • Step 3Power on your laptop. Turn on the LCD projector. It may take a couple of minutes to warm up. Open the computer file or document you wish to display. When you are ready to project your image, press "Function" (Fn) plus "F8." This combination of keys sends your computer's display to the LCD projector.

InFocus LP 250 Multimedia Projector was working fine until i unplugged it and when I went to plug it back in, I used my computers power cord instead of the projector but the plug is almost identical. I...

The plugs on this model projector is very delicate, over time the solder around the plug will begin to crack. Until eventually the connection is lost. Another possibility is that the power supply has gone bad. Using another cord would not cause this. I can fix the projector if you'd like. My ebay screenname is gtitubro.

    Dell m992 crt monitor

If it's getting no signal, make sure the monitor is set for the correct input. This would be either analog (if your cord has blue ends) or digital (if the connectors are white). Depending on wt yhat your monitor is, a button on the monitor will help you set that. If it's set for the correct input signal, then switch out a different cable to see if perchance you have a bad cable out of the box. If there is another PC or laptop setting around, plug your monitor into that to make sure it's good and maybe even plug THAT monitor into yours to make sure there is nothing wrong with your video card. Let me know what transpires. If this takes care of things, please help me out by rating it accordingly.

Connecting Dell laptop to Infocus LP820

The USB cable doesn't transmit Video. You need to plug in the VGA cable. The "DVI" port on the LP820 is not a a DVI but a M1 Digital port and won't work with DVI unless you get a converter.

Connecting Macbook with a compaq MP1400 digital projector

You're going to need a conversion dongle that goes from the Mini-DVI to VGA.

    Then:
    1. Connect one end of the projector signal cable to the Video Graphics Array (VGA) connector on the projector.
    2. Connect the other end of the projector signal cable to the Digital Video Interface (DVI) connector or VGA connector on the notebook computer and tighten the screws.
    3. Connect the projector power cord to the power cord connector on the projector.
    4. Connect the other end of the power cord to an electrical outlet that is easily accessible and close to the projector.
    5. Turn on the projector first, then turn on the computer.

VT45 Projector: Blue pixels throughout screen

If the problem is what I describe as a blue haze over the entire image projected, I was told this is a defect in the cable - we have a Dell Video Projector 2300 - and it takes only a dell VGA cable.

So, the problem is in the cable - solution is replace cable.
