Are there funny arrows at the left of your Y= screen?

In order to select additional graphs, the Transformation Graphing App will need to be uninstalled from the TI-83 Plus Family and TI-84 Plus Family. Uninstalling the App does not erase it from the calculator, it disables it from interfering with the normal graphing modes. Below are the steps to successfully uninstall the App.

  • Press [APPS] key
  • Select Transfrm from the menu
  • Press 1:Uninstall

You executed the Transform Application and it is still loaded in memory taking over the graphing duties from the native OS. You must unload it from memory.
Press the APPS key. Scroll and find Transfrm, then press ENTER. In the new screen select 1:Uninstall and press Enter.
Go to your Y= function editor to type in up to 10 functions.

The Transfrm application has been executed previously. It remains in RAM and takes over the graphing duties of the native OS. You must Uninstall Transfrm (that does not mean delete it, just unload it from memory).
To do so,
  1. press the [APPS] button.
  2. Use arrow Up or Down (Up is faster) to reach Transfm.
  3. Select it and press [ENTER].
  4. In the new screen, select the number to the left of the Uninstall option.
  5. Go to draw your graphs. You will be able to draw up to 10 graphs.

Usually as soon as you start entering an expression in the Y= editor screen, the = sign is highlighted to ensure the drawing of a function. However, if you have previously used the Transfm application to draw dynamic graphs, it takes over the graphing functionalities from the native OS and you can only draw a single graph.

You can skip the next paragraph if you want

The reason is that dynamic graphing needs one or two parameters that can be changed during the graphing process and the graph redrawn with a new value of a parameter, and you end up with a family of curves differing one from the other by the values of one parameters. But since the calculator has space for 10 graphs at most, only one function can be highlighted.

To make a long story short, you must uninstall the Transfrm application from memory. The procedure will not erase it, just kick it out of memory.

Press the [Apps] key. Scroll down or up to reach the Transfm application. Select it and press [ENTER]. If that application was running you will see a new screen that tells you
Transfrm App
  1. Uninstall
  2. Continue

Press1:Uninstall.
Graphing functionalities will revert to the native OS

Another potential culprit is the Inequalz App. To uninstall it, do as for the Transfm and select the option that will unload it from memory.

We are graphing more than one line at a time. One

To return your calculator's graphing equation to "Y=", press "MODE" from the home screen, then ensure that the option on the fourth row is set to "Func". Next, to show a hidden graph, access the Y= list, then press the left arrow key until the cursor is over the "=". Press "ENTER" to toggle visibility of that line.
