Brand new Sansa Clip not recognized in My Computer

Hi there. I bought a Sansa Clip 2 G from Best Buy on Saturday for my son. We went to plug it into the computer and a little "new hardware found" icon appeared on the screen, but it was not recognized in My Computer so I don't know where to download the files. Also, at the beginning it showed "connecting" when I plugged it in the USB port, but now it doesn't do anything... any helpful suggestions?

Reformat and upgrade the firmware

REFORMAT FOR WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
FIRMWARE UPGRADE - Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

Computer wont recognize sansa clip mp3 player

Reformat clip with disk utility after looking at it like an external disk. Do this by turning it off. Puting it in lock mode. Hold down middle button as you plug it in.

I am mad at my Clip as it did the same thing.

Can turn on

The Sansa can sometimes break overnight if you sleep on it. This happened to me. I don't think this is really a solution, but if you bought it at BEST BUY, they have a 2-year guarantee for a new one.

Sorry,

Sansa clip mp3 player

To help you with that, I need to know what operating system your using (XP, Vista, ect...) and what other devices you have plugged into the computer. There are a few things you can try. When you plug it in, does it say it's connected? Does the "Found new hardware" wizard come up? Let me know, I'll see what I can do to help

Brand new Sansa Clip not recognized in My Computer

IT FINALLY WORKS !!!!

Sandisk Tech support had me do the following:

- Turn it OFF
- Put it in the HOLD position
- HOLD the center button IN while plugging into USB port, continue to hold for 5 to 7 sec even after plugged in.
At this point MY COMPUTER recognized it. And it worked.

He also had me to:

- go to WWW.MICROSOFT.COM
- In the upper right hand search bar, type in MTP PORTING KIT
I did this and downloaded the first one. Now my Sansa Clip work perfect. I wish I would have talked to him last week before I returned the last one, for the same reasons.

If this does not help call the 1-800 # , opt #4, and ask for GUY (yes that is really his name) out of 5 or so calls to Tech Support he is the only one who knew what he was doing, and how to actually HELP.
GOOD LUCK
