Ake out the card and see if the pins inside the camera aren't bent. If not, make sure you are inserting the CF card into the camera's slot correctly. It should slide in smoothly with little resistance at the end. The door should close if the CF card goes in correctly. If not, something is terribly wrong. If you can't find an authorized Canon service center, go back to the store you bought the digital hd video camera from. They may be able to help you there.

I Have a Sony Z7. The tape door doesn't close and the tape doesn't slip into place. How to fix that?

This is usually caused by a defective component in the tape detection circuitry and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

Sony HVR-A1U "Reinsert Cassette" Error pops up frequently

I have had this error on my 3 year old Sony A1E and it has resulted in glitched picture and audio, despite not showing a poblem whilst recording. It came up with C:31:23 error. Start of the tape seemed ok and the end seemed to get pixellated. A friend said the PD170 had the same issue and had to have her tape heads changed. I've tried cleaning mine but problem still there. I'm looking at getting new NXCAM as I've spent a lot of money last year getting it fixed.

Tape door wont close

I'm having a similar problem. The camera is a Sony DCR-TRV280. When you put a tape in the tray will not go down. However when the tray is empty and you push it shut it will go down. In other words the mechanism works fine without the tape but with the tape it doesn't. I hope the explanation is clear enough. Thanks
