My brand new Canon Legria HF200 camcorder fails to initialize SDHC cards, nor will it read a card which has been formatted in FAT32 on my PC. This is the experience I am having:
1. On inserting either a new or previously used card and powering up I get the message "Check the memory card".
2. Following the Function menu correctly and attempting with two different cards - a 4GB Kingston Class 4 SDHC card and a 16GB Transcend Class 6 SDHC card - each time when I confirm either a Quick or Complete initialization it returns with the message "Process terminated with error".
3. As a result when attempting to record either film or stills, each card has no data table built and so returns the message again, "Check the memory card".
Is this a camera fault?
This totally sucks. I have a similar issue with my Canon Vixia HF R20 and I'm using a Lexar Pro 64Gb 133x SDXC card. When trying to initialize the card, its fails and says "Process terminated with error." It also says "check the memory card" when I first put it in. Write-protect is off. My other SanDisk class 4 SDHC card seems to work ok.
I could have sworn it worked before and I was able to transfer videos to my Mac on 10.6, but I can't remember for sure if I was using the SDXC card or just the built-in memory. Very frustrating.
