Hello,

This sounds like your pump brush belt is broken in your Bissell. The belt controls the pump in the machine, as well as the brushes. This would be explain why the solution is not spraying, as well as why the red spinner on the top of the machine is also not spinning.

Here's an extremely helpful video that you can watch on how to replace the belt on your Bissell ProHeat Carpet Cleaner.

If you open up the door and find that your belt is not broken, please just reply using the Clarification Request form here on the Fixya website, and I'll be more then happy to do some advanced diagnosing with you to figure out what the problem is.

How do I get the Shampoo solution tub unclogged so it mixes with the water to clean my carpets.

You can try adding hot water, but your best bet is to remove the tank and hose and flush them well with hot water to clean them out.

Bissell cleanview carpet cleaner

There are a few things that can cause a Bissell carpet cleaner to not dispense water. First thing to check is the belts if your machine is a Pro Heat. The flat belt goes around the motor shaft and the pump. As the motor runs it spins the pump. This is a stretch belt and stretch belts should be replaced at least once or twice per year to work properly as they will lose elasticity even if the machine has never been turned on. The first thing to check is to see if water will spray from the upholstery tool. If it sprays but you still get no water at the floor jets then check and clean the jets to insure they are not clogged. Getting water from the upholstery tool means the pump is working ok. If not, make sure the water tank and soap tank are not empty. Even if the water tank is full make sure the soap tank is full too. I would suggest NOT putting any soap in the soap tank because that is what causes most of the problems. Put plain tap water in the soap tank and try the machine again. Hold the trigger down giving it plenty of time to flush out any air bubbles and/or soap from the pump and the lines. If you still can't get any water from to the floor jets the most likely problem is the heater is clogged with mineral deposits or soap gunk. When a machine sits in the closet for months the soap in the lines coagulates and will clog things up. Which is why if you want the machine to work for a long time NEVER put soap in it. To do a better job of cleaning put your soap and hot water into a sprayer and use this solution to pre-condition the carpets. Pre-conditioning gives the soap and hot water a chance to dissolve the gunk in your carpets, then use fresh hot water in the machine to flush the soap and dirt from your carpets. Your machine will last longer and your carpets will be cleaner and stay clean longer because you rinsed out the soap. If you try this method you will be amazed how much cleaner your carpets will be.
If you need to clean the heater you will need to separate the handle assembly by removing all the screws. First make sure the machine is unplugged. You'll have to figure out which screws need to come out, it's not too tough. The heater is inside the handle. Look at how it comes apart so you will know how to put it back together. The heater is the silver metal thing with wires and hoses. Remove the screws that hold the cover on being sure not to lose any of the tiny red gaskets. Remove the cover and clean the soap or mineral deposits from the heater core, put the cover back on and put it back together and it should work fine. To keep it from getting clogged again simply make sure you use soft water if minerals were the problem and never put soap in the machine.

Cant squirt water, nothing is coming up from the carpet

Try filling soap solution tank with hot water and make sure that the red filter in the pickup tank is not clogged, and always run hot water in solution tank after cleaning carpet. steve

How do i use my bissell 7920

The 7920 is a great little carpet shampooing vacuum. Look up manual information for detailed assembly and starting/breakdown procedures. Make certain that the carpet/floor has been vacuumed previous to cleaning with the shampooer! The small nozzle opening will get clogged with as little as a toothpick or cheerio! Step on the rear release arm pedal and drop the handle down to the floor, Pull up on the resevoir bucket handle and place the handle of the resevoir back down to open the top of the tank and fill the bladder with hot water. Replace bucket top and place bucket back into vacuum. Raise the handle until it clicks into place. Fill on board soap/shampoo dispenser by lifting out of chamber on unit and fill with appropriate Bissell or upright shanpoo cleaner. Replace unit and make certain the top is tight. Plug unit in and turn on both vaccuum switch and preheat water switch and wait approx. 2 minutes to get water hot enough to proceed with cleaning. Start by rollling cleaner onto carpet and engage trigger approx 2-3' pathway away from you and then release trigger and draw vacuum /shamppoooer back over wetted area, repeat without using water again unless heavier traffic area. Do not over wet area draw unit back and forth a few times until water runs clear thru the front clear window. Proceed to make another path along side cleaned area and so on.
Once you hear the water run out or you have finished cleaning an area then shut of heater and vacuum. release handle with foot pedal release and lift out bucket and pour out dirty water and rinse area/tank /resevoir etc. You should also clean the small red filter in the resevoir of any debris by popping out and replacing. Also, there is an onboard filter under the clear window (where spinner is located) . unscrew clear top , take out spinner device and pull out small plastic screen and rinse or blowout. Clean also the front clear cover if there is debris, by rinsing off with sprayer or wiping clean. You may also find that you have to take off the clear plastic hood window, by unscrewing two screws on either side of nozzle opening (top ) and rinse out as well. Do not, get water under unit into motor area. Place unit upright and in a warm place.. Do not let freeze if in climate that is known to freeze. Good luck cleaning!!

The water does not shoot out of my bissell proheat shampooer. The red spinner has stopped spinning.

I'm not sure I have the same kind of machine as you because I don't think I have a red spinner. However, I did have the problem of water not shooting out (although the solution was being used up, just not the water). The problem turned out to be the plug underneath the main tank. To find out if this is your problem, lift out the main tank and take it to the sink. Feel underneath for the plug. Push inside of it. Water should squirt out (assuming there is water in your tank). If it doesn't, turn the tank over, unscrew the plug, and push the thing inside until you get it to spring up and down. If it won't do that, you might need a new one. If it springs, screw it back and try your machine again. Mine worked good as new after I did this. Good luck!

Instructions or manuel was not included.

i downloaded the manual for your machine, but not sure how to access it for you,but i do know about the problem, the tank that sits down on the front of the steamer and it has 2 clips that you push in to lock the tank is where your dirty water is put in when you are cleaning your carpets. the tank above ,the one where you put your solution and water in is what is used to shampoo your carpet. on the handle is a trigger (black) button ,this is the button you push in to release your solution onto your carpet. release the button to extract the water from your carpet, moving your steamer in a back and forth motion. the trigger button is the only button on the machine and is only used to put the water /cleaner located in the upper tank on your carpet, releasing this button and moving your steamer back and forth over the shampooed part with extract your dirty water into the tank that sits below the solution tank. go on www.hoover.com and click on carpet cleaners ,scroll down to find yours and click on manual. and the owner manual will download and you can print it out for future reference, i hope this will solve your problem, sandy

Hoover steamvac m/f5881-900

Check to make sure that the seal is is on the reservior asm. that is what the tank sits on. With the tank off, pull the trigger and see if the reservior asm. is moving up and down, won't move very far, if not then it will need to be replaced. Check the valve at the bottom of the tank, push it in and see if it comes back, maybe it is stuck open and not closing.

Water and clearen not coming out.

If the modle is an old modle the heater could be blocked,or if it a new modle try taking of the of the handle and ad a small shim to the bottom of the handle plunger to make it a little bit longer ,the plunger might not be reaching the valve,
also unscrew the clear cap which which is on top of the red spinner to see if the white filter under the spinner is clean and free from debris.
when you put the cap back on make sure its not to thigt and the spinner move freely, if the suction is poor make sure the red lint filter in the clean water tank is clean
