You can download the printer drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model printer and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Use this link to download the drivers: - www.hp.com/#Support
Windows has a nasty habit of eating drivers.
I suggest that you go to the Control Panel, open the Scanners and Cameras folder, delete any instance of your scanner found there.
With your 1210 turned on, reboot your Dell.
If Win is feeling friendly today, it should report a 'new device' found and reinstall the driver.
It may, however, ask you to insert the disk that came with the unit; then you will have to supply the HP disk belonging to your unit or download it from HP's website.
