ECHO CS 3000 chainsaw-while idling, shuts off if held on an angle

I have an ECHO CS 3000 chainsaw. It will idle for a little while if parallel to the ground. However, if the chainsaw is held downwards or towards either side (for example-- hanging from your belt while climbing a ladder), if will stall out and shut off. I'm not sure what happens within the chainsaw to cause this shutoff when the saw is moved around. Any solutions?

The idle speed screw may be set too low--adjust so that the chain stops moving, but the engine keeps running. Drain the fuel tank and see if the filter falls to the lowest point of the tank whatever the position. If it doesn't, replace the fuel line hooked to the filter as it may have lost flexibility. Hope this helps!

I have a ppt-260 that when cranked it runs at a high rpm without pulling trigger and does not return to idle, does anyones have a suggestion for a fix?

Check your throttle cable as it may corroded and has the carburetor held in full throttle position or someone has the idle speed screw turn all the way in.

Brand new Echo cs-400 chain saw: The chain spins fast on idle. Should'nt the chain be stationary on idle?

The manual is available here:

http://safemanuals.com/user-guide-instructions-owner-manual/ECHO/CS-400-_E

The idle speed of the negine may be too high.
Page 26 of the manual gives instructions for adjusting the speed with the "T" screw on the carburettor.

BRAND NEW ECHO CS-600P HARD STARTING, HAVE TO PULL THE RECOIL LIKE 20 TIME BEFORE IT WILL START.

Are you pumping the primer bulb until fuel flows into the bulb, setting the choke, and the fast idle is being set? Set the choke at half position after the first 'pop' and don't touch the throttle until it starts running. If you are doing these things per the instructions, take the machine back for warranty adjustment. Hope this helps!

Idle to high

Make sure the carburetor was re-installed correctly as any air leak between the carburetor and cylinder will cause high engine speeds but almost no power. It can also scuff the piston/ring(s) and cylinder due to very lean lubrication from the fuel. Hope this helps!

What are the adjustments for the high and low mixture screws on the carbureator? the carbureator is from an echo 500vl chainsaw.

Echo thinks your actual model number is CS-550EVL. Page 14 lists the starting points for carburetor adjustment here:
http://www.echo-usa.com/pdf/documentation/CS550evle_010186.pdf
Additional manuals for you saw can be found here:
EchoUSA

More choices can be found by typing CS in the model: window then clicking “Search”.

Once initialized this is the best procedure I have found.
Carburetor Adjustment by Madsens.com
http://www.madsens1.com/saw%20carb%20tune.htm
CW is leaner; to lean will destroy the saw. If over tightened closed (CW) the adjustment screw faces are easily marred; marred adjustments are difficult to impossible to set properly.
Clean the air filter; adjusting with a dirty filter can cause a run lean condition once cleaned and the saw run.

There are 2 wav (sound - idle & full – may not be highlighted) files that I find most helpful, I think you will too. HTH
