No audio input

to set a microphone you do not need to get to the speech folder..That folder is for other things ...
just insert the mic..and go to the control panel ..and open the sound manager ..In there select record ..and after that select the mic .
click on set default if you have only one sound card ..and not using any digital cables..and than configure...from the list select headphones or desktop mic...and go with the wizard ..It should show the signal being received and next when the progress line react on noises..
usually the mic should work right the way if it is plugged in the pink in for mic on a desktop and for laptop ..just open the speaker configuration and select headphone if it does not detect the mic..(this enables teh jack plugs for some laptops..
if you have a windows xp ..just double click on the volume icon on the bar ..and volume manager will start ..In the list look for the mic..raze volume and un-mute ..If the mic is not in the list on options ..and properties..(top left ) ..and tick the mic case .This will display it and enable it ..

Acer aspire 5920 running vista has built in mic not working

It is all because the Microphone is not set as a default device to start recording.

Its like your computer has no device for recording even if the computer has connected with Mic.

Just change the settings and enjoy..!!!

For Vista 32 bit. Go to the driver manager. De-instal/delete the driver in the Sound, Video and Game section. In my case it was RealTek High Def Audio ver (Select Delete the driver files.) Reboot. Vista will reinstall a driver. In my case it was Microsoft High Def audio ver 6.0.6000.16386. I had the mic plugged in when I rebooted to load the new driver. The Cyber Acoustics ML-1060 now works fine. Hope this helps.
