Reformatting your computer, save everything. You will loose all of your DATA.

I found this on the web. You can click on the link to see it more in view.
http://www.ehow.com/how_5039946_reformat-windows-vista-computer.html
Step 1 ATTENTION!

Reformatting a computer will reset it to the factor image, all data must be backed up or it WILL be lost. There are several reasons to reformat a hard drive. A few reasons include but are not limited to: driver issues, virus, cleaning up, getting rid of the computer, etc.

Step 2 Recovery Disk Creator
Every new windows vista owner should know that the new computers are not supplied with recovery disks anymore. The manufacturer allows the user to create one set of disks upon the purchase of a new machine. It is important to create the disks early as driver issues and viruses may arise. In order to create recovery disks on windows vista you want to click on the start menu. Next, type in recovery in the Start Search option area. Next, click on recovery disk creation and follow the process. It will require that you have about 3 dvds or about 7 cds to create the recovery disks.
REFORMATING HARD DRIVE!

Once the recovery disks have been made reformatting windows vista is quite simple. Insert the recovery disks into the cd/dvd tray on the machine. You are now going to want to turn the computer off. When the computer has turned off, go ahead and turn it back on. A screen should pop up asking you whether you want to boot from Hard Drive or Disk. Choose the disk option. After you make it this far it is a downhill process. Next you follow the on-screen instruction make sure you reformat the machine, not recover it.

Good Luck :0)

Have an acer aspire 5515 laptop. It will not boot. Tried doing alt-f10 to restore but it does nothing. Did not come with restore disks.

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
or
During the boot process tap the f8 button three times this will boot into safe mode where the only things
working will be your mouse and keyboard enabling you to attempt to repair your computer
hope this helps

How do i return my aspire 5515 back to the orginal settings

usually, manufacturers are providing restoration disc. it comes with your computer when you bought it. just look for that and put in your computer. Let me warn you, when you do a recovery or when you restore it to manufacturer's default settings, all of your files and program will be deleted. it's better if you will back up all your files first.

please let me know if that helps. thanks.

How do i reboot a acer aspire 5515 laptop

What is the problem now. You have not mentioned. I suppose that it does not reboot. In that case at bootup press F8 to enter the Safe Mode. Once you are in safe mode, you can restore the laptop to pre- kids date. That will remove all the changes that the kids made whether it be the settings or any new prog installed and whatnot. To restore to an earlier date Start->All Progs-> Accessories-> Syatem Tools->System Restore. Once there, select a date (bold numbers in the calender that appears) and let it do what it does. Will reboot on its own and ultimately give you a system as if the kids had not touched it at all.

Acer Aspire 5515 stopped responding and will only boot as far as the Microsoft loading screen

Try tapping the "f8"key when booting - it should allow you to choose "safe mode".

If it starts up - scan the PC for errors (including bad sectors on HDD)

If it still does not boot - I'd try booting from the windows install disc and use the installers repair console.

If that wouldn't help - I'd get a bootable CD of Ubuntu or some other OS and try and repair the windows installation from there.

Acer aspire 5515 erecovery manager does not work. i can see three options restore from factory or user disc or exit the only one i can choose is exit

try restarting your machine. tap the correct key to get into your bios. most of the time its f2. in there make sure the recovery mode is active/enabled. i believe on an acer its called D2D. then when you restart your machine hold down shift key and tap f8, that should take you through the recovery. let me know if that helps

Good Luck!
