Whn you try to power it up does it attempt to power on before going red or does it just stay red? If it just stays red then its definitely a case of faulty power supply board. The easies way to resolve this problem would be to replace the power supply board, which can be obtained for about 50-75$ from shopjimmy.com. So let me know if you wish to fix it yourself
Is it a CRT or a DLP/LCD projector? If not a CRT, a worn-out projection lamp can cause this symptom. When it is a DLP projector, a faulty Colour Wheel sensor can be the additional problem. If it is a CRT projection unit the High Voltage and deflection circuit must be examined...
I have the same problem. My Akai 27" flat screen shuts off inconsistantly. Sometimes it will stay on for hours and then we have to turn in on every 2 minutes. It seems to be getting worse. Is there anyone who has found a way to fix this?
