Where is my regulator wire?

I have a 98 Explorer 4.0 SOHC. I just replaced the motor and was hooking all wires up. Got to the alternator and I cannot seem to find the harness for the regulator on the alternator. I have looked at other vehicles and EVERY one of them have it spliced in with the main power cable that runs to the alternator. I for some reason cannot seem to find mine ANYWHERE!!! What is up with that? Can someone please help me and possibly look at their vehicle, preferably someone with the same year and vehicle as me and tell me where their harness is? Is it spliced into another bundle of wires or a seperate harness all together.

Im not sure... If it was an internal regulator, would there still be the connector on the alternator?

THere would be two wires toi the alternator if it has an internal regulator. One heavy cable to the battery, and a light wire to operate the charge warning light on the dash.

98 FORD EXPLORER EATING ALTERNATORS AS SOON AS I PUT THEM ON WHY

Check the fuses there are 4 that you will need to inspect. In the engine juction fuse box its a 50 amp fuse (big ones). Then goe to the panel fuse box (under instrument panel) fuse 15 mini. Then inspect the battery connection this includes the alternator wire itself. If the fuses are good do a wiggle test on the wire and alternator remeber your alternator is internal vontage regulator equipt that means wiggle test the connections

I have a 96 ford explorer I just replaced the battery and the alternator in it. When starrted the battery lite stays on and the alternator does not charge it. Is there a linkable fuse or something I am...

Trace all of the wires that are attached to the alternator. If there is a fusible link or a broken wire you will find it. If the alternator is charging but something else is wrong the alternator will pull a steel wrench toward it. You did not mention the voltage regulator. You will find it when tracing your wires. Look it over carefully. Voltage regulators fail keeping the alternator from working. Parts stores have regulators and they are easy to install.

I put a new alternator in my 1979 f 150 and it will not charge the battery so Iam hoping I have the wires crossed some where I need to know what wires hook up where i have 4 wires to singe wires and 1...

The issue could due to the voltage regulator not working properly.

If the wires have been replaced correctly to the alternator, look for a metallic box near the alternator, probably on the fender wall.

The price for the voltage regulator should be around $20.00.

It is a good idea to replace the voltage regulator when you replace the alternator, since both are probably the same age.

Hope this helps!

Charging problem

Could you clarify your engine size?

4 Cylinders K 2.5L TBI SOHC 6 Cylinders 3 3.0L FI (found in 36% of 1990 Dodge Dynasty) 6 Cylinders R 3.3L FI (found in 64% of 1990 Dodge Dynasty)

If you have the 3.3L the voltage regulators are located in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Single Board Engine Controller (SBEC), depending on the model. If, after diagnosis, the regulator is deemed faulty, the PCM/SBEC must be replaced with a new one.

Hope this helps for now
