Toshiba 42HP66 had

Toshiba 42HP66 42" Plasma TV had "Pop of Death" Sound but no image. I got the service manual online. I checked both the Ysus and Zsus drive boards. The Ysus was bad I obtained another and replaced it, now have image and video. Right side of the image is thin verrtical color bands, replaced the "control" board too with no change in the image. I haven't had time to dig into it much further. (I'm a tech and very busy) anyone else seen this particular problem?

I replaced one of the two "buffer" circuit boards beneath the plasma panel that controls the right side of the screen, and the image was restored.

SOURCE: Toshiba 42Hp66 No picture only sound

to test the zsus board check for a low resistance on the fuse to ground. sadly if the zsus is bad, the ysus and one or both of the driver boards is probably also bad. best to change all at once as a defective one can tacke out the others.

SOURCE: Some troubleshooting help please.

The part that caused the fuse to blow is the hybrid that is mounted underneath the heatsink on the YSUS and ZSUS boards. The part used on these boards might be YPPD-J017C or YPPD-J018C, in about 90% of the time, replacing these hybrids fixes the plasmas with no video but good audio. Since VS and GND is shorted, that means that the hybrid has shorted internally. Most service techs would rather replace the entire YSUS or ZSUS boards since the hybrids are very difficult to remove.
Let me know if you require further assistance.

SOURCE: Tosbiba 42HP66 Plasma. Pop from set not very dim

Hello
First of all, check the power supply board for any damaged [bulged] capacitors in it. If there is such, power supply output voltage will be differet to that it should be. As there is a dull picture with your TV, the power supply section is workng, but if there is any fault capcitors in it, variation to output voltage can be occur. So check it first. If this is found ok, Zsus board should be suspected. If the panel has some trouble with it, that is, if there is any short within the panel, Zsus will get damaged, because high voltage to ionise the gas pixels of the plasma TV is being generated from this board.
Check the power supply board for any bulged or exploded electrolytic capcitors. Then go further, and replace the Zsus board. As there is a dim picture is there , X & Y boards are working well. OK.

My 42" LG plasma TV has sound but no image. Help!

Your posting does not say what TV are you talking about, but instead references an LG sustain board (EBR50267901), which is odd.
Where did you get that number from and why did you post it instead of the TV model?
If EBR50267901 is indeed the board you need serviced or replaced, here is a link for you:

42 ilo plasma tv went pop no picture, but sound and all other settings work.

Most likely YSUS or ZSUS board. If you have any picture at all (very dark & cloudy) that would be the ZSUS. If no picture at all, then it is the YSUS. A secondary problem with these is that you generally have to replace the YSUS and Y-driver(s) at the same time.

I have a Toshiba 50hp66 that the power light cycles from red to green with a simultaneous clicking of a relay on the power board. I check for power at a few points per the Toshiba service manual and iy is...

Check the fuses on the ysus & zsus boards. Are any fuses on boards open . Disconect power cabels to ysus board first {board on left} . put tv on . if the light is green the ysus board must be replaced.

Sorry to say - it sounds like the 'pop of death' - If you got this from costco - give them a call and see if you can claim warranty (or the manufacturer).

I have a lg 42pc3dv plasma tv. it made a loud pop

Looking at it from the back, the board on the left is the ysus. You should see a big red cable coming from the power supply board in the middle of the set going to the ysus. Near the red cable plug on the ysus should be a fuse. Most likely the fuse has blown. If it is you need a ysus PCB. Check out encompassparts.com. If you get a new board be sure to set all the controls on the new board to match the old board. If you don't you will have little sparkles all over the screen when it comes back on. I hope this helps. You may want to check all fuses on the power supply and the zsus which is on the right side of the set. I have seen both the ysus and zsus be bad together. Good luck and thanks.

Toshiba 42dpc85 plasma monitor

I bought my Toshiba 50HP66 50" Plasma a little under 18 months ago and about four or five months ago it began to act strange. It would put a block of characters on the screen that made no sense until I would unplug it and and restart it. Then it would act normal for awhile and would just need a reset every so often. I was out of the 12 month warranty so I just put up with it.....until yesterday. I was watching the TV when out of nowhere, I heard a really loud POP....and then the screen went dark. I went ahead and bought a new Sony LCD screen and was going to sell this for parts online. I troubleshoot electronics daily so I thought I would purchase a digital copy of the service manual and check it out. After I downloaded it I noticed that this is very common with plasmas (this exact failure) and only on the LG boards. I scanned my handy dandy service manual and found out that Toshiba was using these same boards along with Zenith and some others. The difference is all the other manufacturers honor their product and replace these boards even when the warranty has expired so I called Toshiba and tried my luck. Even though I've found many postings of Toshibas failing and hundreds and hundreds of the exact same board failure...Toshiba claims to have never heard of it. I informed the "Customer Support Supervisor" of Toshiba that I would be willing to post this on a few websites and have other customers contact him to inform him of this issue. He was fine with it so here is his contact information so feel free to let him know your Toshiba plasma went POP as well.
800-631-3811 ask for Dave Thompson and let him know.
